Hi Guys, can you help me out please???? i have a 2002 S with the PCM 1 ( Cassette) I have 2 what i think are original nav discs but the system says its initialising and nothing else. I have looked to see what software spec i have and can see the following:

PCM/IDIS 5.43
nAV SOFTWARE ..........................
Database ..................

Any ideas? i cant tell if i have 8 or 16 bit. It does however have that hideous phone handle next to it which looks sooooooooooooooooooo 80s.

Thanks in advance for any comments or advice.

If it doesn't show a Navigation Software number, then the PCM head unit is not communicating with the navigation drive. You can check the connectors, but it sounds like the nav drive has gone tit$ up.

Edit: Check the fuses first. The nav drive has a separate fuse.

on a 16bit PCM1 (the one with the cassette) - you can use the Opel Siemens 2010-2011 for NCDx Systems cd and it works fine.

Hi Guys,

Back agasin after finally getting around to trying to fix my PCM 1.

Well, ive pulled it all out and everything appears to be connected. There is a plug socket that isnt connected to anything snd i wonder if that is an issue? can anyone tell me whaat goes in the empty slot on the back of the head unit????????

i have 3 connection sockts - the upper has a green, yellow and blue individual square shaped pliug on a loom.

the lower has a black single oblong fitment but the center one is empty. its all housed next to the red fuse (working).

All of the other sockets are full - any suggestions??????

The empty socket is a connection point for speakers, if the car is not equipped with an amplifier. You obviously have an amp, which uses the green/yellow/blue connector.

Thanks Richard, that is very clear. I reckon that my nav drive is goosed then as it doesnt appear to be communicating with the head unit. I have power as the 2 yellow lights on the drive are on and the disc ejects no problem. It sounds as though the drive is struggling to read the cd - so either the two discs i have are fake / copies or the laser is knacked............screw driver out i reckon........

I've got one or two disks that I know are good. Drop me a PM if you would like to try them.

Did the 996 ever come with the DVD-based PCM 2.1, or just the CD-based version?

Only came with PCM1 or PCM2.0 - both CD-based.

Hi guys. Nice to meet you all and hope I am welcome among speed-freaks like me! I have a question about how I can input Points Of Interest (POI) in my PCM3 nav system. Specifically I want to input the speedcams of the Greek highways as POIs.... winkwink

Is it possible? Do you know of anyone that might have a DVD to upload new maps with speedcams?

The Bulgarian DVDs are a software update only I believe, not maps or ability to add POIs.

Hi

Hope someone can help. I have an 05 997 with the PCM sat nav. Version numbers are:

PCM: 04202JDI/3004
System: 04113AD1/1104
Nav: 00174156/2704

The DVD I have is Europe 10.2004 which I think is part number 997.642.235.03.

The maps are obviously quite old now and out of date so I was wondering what I needed to do to update them. Can I just use a later map DVD or is there more to it than that?

Thanks
Dave

Hi all,

My first post here in a LONG time so please be gentle. I'm posting in haste and whilst i've done some searching/reseaching i've not read everything so forgive me if i'm covering something previously covered. I promise to do more homework in advance next time smile

I've just bought my first porsche. A 2009 Cayenne S with PDCC and plenty of other options, which i'm over the moon with.

It has the PCM3 (I believe, touchscreen version) and the maps don't take full postcodes. Is this something I can upgrade via software/dvd?

Also I'm about to head off and post an ipod cable question (where do I get one and is it any good?, car has the kit fitten in arm rest) and a warrenty question (is it worth getting one, I have an option for a stratstone one but need to decide today).

If anyone could point me in the direction for anwers to the above 2 questions that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

M.

The PCM3 map and 7-digit postcode update is currently £150 from an OPC.

Thanks Steve, you'll have to help me with the acronym. I'm a Porsche and forum noob.
