Sounds right, Thanks guys. Guess it's a book car in job. Had hoped it would be a dvd/usb stick somebody would sell. As i'm guessing that's how the update is applied.

No, it takes around four hours hooked up to their computer system apparently (!), so book in for the day.

Go to this site:
http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk
It's essentially a BMW site but if you email him your car & system details he'll send you 2014 map discs for £25, worked a great on my pcm 2.1 system

Hi guys,

thanks for all the information shared here. I found this thread searching the web for some PCM information.

I have a 2007 911 Turbo, I found this web site www.climarepair.com which sells the 2015 DVD maps for the PCM 2.1:

http://www.climarepair.com/navigation-maps/

Would I be ok with that or do I need to update my PCM with an extra disc?

Cheers!

Edit: Got it and works fine

On a MY2007 car you won't have to do any updates. The 2015 map disk will be plug & play.

Hi again, I have a problem.

I bought the DVD map for my 2007 Turbo on that website (climarepair) and everything works fine.

Then I also bought the "PCM firmware upgrade kit" (http://www.climarepair.com/pcm-2-1-firmware-update/) in order to upgrade my 2005 Carrera S PCM firmware and be able to run 2015 maps on it. I upgraded the PCM with the 2 CDs provided, and now when I press Main+Trip this is what it shows:

NAVIGATION SYSTEM:
Theory: /
Real: 00174156 / 2704

PCM:
Theory: 05024AD1 /0205
Real: 05024AD1 /0205

SYSTEM SOFTWARE:
Theory: 04364AD1 / 3604
Real: 04364AD1 / 3604

Then if I insert the new DVD map, system says "Navigation: DVD not recognized"

Maybe the firmware upgrade crashed at some point? Should I just try to reload the firmware upgrade CDs or ask for a new copy of them both?

Thanks!

Coming back to this thread just to inform that I just had to re-insert the DVD and then everything worked fine wink So my experience with climarepair.com was good!

Cheers

your satnav does not support postcodes ..

only PCM 3.0 and above can be updated for, or have, postcode entry - these were fitted from 987.2 and 997.2 onwards

thanks SFO. So there is no quick fix to updating to this version, i guess the software in my unit can only be upgraded to a certain level ?
shy of forking out £1500 for a complete new alpine/pioneer/kenwood system in stuck with manual road entry ?

Have you tried entering the first few digits of the postcode in the TOWN field when entering a destination?

This!

PCM2.1 supports part postcodes (not the last two letters)
PCM3.0 supports full postcode entry
