Before you wonder yes I have searched the archive !!
Despite my best efforts the drivers side footwell is still getting wet. Its only on the RHS and underneath the pedals as far as the brake pedal. Above floor level is bone dry. Seems wettest beyond the seam of the carpet mid way back of the footwell towards the drivers seat although I do park on a hill so this might just be the water running to the lowest point. I have sealed everything I can under the bonnet. Door seal pinched. I have not sealed the wiper as I cannot see how to do this without making a mess and anyway if this was the culprite bearing in mind I park on a hill I would see the water coming in somewhere else.
I have sat in the car and had water poured over everything including the door seals and where the door meets the windscreen and can find nothing. Has anyone got any other suggestions pls ? (Buy a Porsche not allowed )

Will be interested in the results as I have the same problem. The foam piece on the underside of the drivers carpet is acting as a sponge?

Try putting a bead of silicon sealant in an arc on the inner wing to deflect water from even getting near the brake and clutch master cylinder seals - although you might think they are sealed quite often they are not!!
It may not be pretty but it works!!

- see thread under 'driver side footwell' in the Griff forum from a couple of months back - I was amazed at how much water was getting in from 'underneath' at the point where the driver seat anchors to the floor.

Good luck

At the back of the front wheel arch there are two bolts (there is on mine anyway) from the chassis to the body, check that these are sealed, and also the winscreen. esp the bit at the bottom.

I had the same problem, amongst others, and it turned out the water was getting in under the door seal where the leather edging on the carpet wedges under the seal. I pulled the door seal off from level with the windscreen base right the way round to the door lock. I cut the leather trim off the carpet where it sits under the seal and then ran a bead of slicone sealant round the door frame before putting the seal back on. Took less than half and hour including wiping everything down with white spirit prior to siliconing ... it did the trick by the way.

I have exactly the same problem, flooded footwell on drivers side, tried all the obvious things, seal brake fluid reservoir etc but guess what flooded again today. No drips, mine seems to be seeping up from the bulk head through the carpet and along the channels in the floor. Did you sort yours out and if so HOW!!!
Thanks
Chris

On my chim i noticed a small hole around the edge of the white plastic boss that the steering column passes through as it goes into the wheel arch from the cabin. The white boss is fixed into the arch but the sealant around its edge seemed to have dried out.I only found it because i had a light on in the inside right up by the pedals and i was under the wheel arch and saw the light coming through.Sealed it with underseal and since then dry as a bone. But this was obviously only letting water in if the car was moving.

I have a problem with the passenger side. Again, I have been through the archives and have sealed everything in sight. I then gave it to a mechanic friend who spent hours doing the same.

I have a 96 car with door buttons on the rear wing. The seals are cr4p and he reckons water gets in there (seems logical)??

I'm going to look at converting these to the later, under wing mirror design. I'm sure I have read this in the forum, however, I am struggling to find at the moment.

Any suggestions welcome! My girlfriend won't even get in the car at the mo because 'its wet and it smells like cat p1ss'

I have one, however, lazy arse me cannot be bothered to put it on when I use the car four times a day, especially when it is p1ssing it down!

I'd rather make the car waterproof!

I get the occasional leak (like this morning!)which usuall pools in the same spot. I tracked it down a year or so ago coming in through the break reservoir seal. Water drips onto the foam insulation on the front wall of the footwell and wicks its way onto the carpet to pool under the pedals. Sorted it by reapplying sealant around break reservoir plus a bit of duck tape to make sure. Usually keepsme bone dry for at least 6 months at a time.

No still not found it. Put Leven half cover on last weekend - still wet so unlikely to be windscreen. Sealed bolts under front wing - still wet and also gets wet when on the drive so unlikely to be coming up underneath SO - must be engine bay somewhere This weekend I intend to remove all sealant and start again. I am loving the car and normally I have sold cars for less niggles but I think it is the challenge not to be beaten and to show everyone I can live with a TVR

I had the same problem on my Chim, it turned out to be the rubber grommet for the wire that goes into the lid (screw on top) of the break reservoir, the water would flow down it and then down the back of the foot plate behind the pedals so you couldn’t see it dripping in. I hope this helps

The best sealant to use for this is Sticks like sh*t. It will still seal in wet, dry, hot or cold areas. Travis perkins or Jewsons will stock it. Clear and white are the colour choice.

And still as relevant today, as it was then. Hooray for Tvr.
