Fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning 6:30am mind you. After a serious blast through some stunning roads we all met up at Petworth which on arrival felt like a stage from the Mille Miglia, with all the cars passing through the town en route to Goodwood.
Was a great day out, some very nice cars on display at Goodwood combined with the early morning drive down in good weather.

I was looking for a Mk2 car when I purchased mine, but none available as they are pretty thin on the ground, isn't it something like less than 16 cars came into the UK?

Ended up getting the best common Mk1 (circa 100 cars) I could find :-)

They are very special cars, think long and hard about parting with it, I've been through the process as a move with work overseas is in the mix, i've decided to keep mine and store it, for me it would be a very hard car to replace and when you compare them on a price basis against GT3's and GT3RS models which seem to be going up by the minute, the GT2 represents huge value for money.

They simply cannot stay at these silly prices for ever, 50k starting price for such huge performance and not to mention the look of the car. It really does not matter to me what they do price wise because its staying put for many years, but the market is really asleep on these cars. The latest GTPorsche magazine gave it a good little right up this month. Im just so glad that I bought when I did.

That's pretty much where they are now though isn't it? Only a few cars in the classifieds.

They can't stay at this price point though for much longer if you look at what is generally happening to the limited run GT1 block based cars, good examples are very thin on the ground.

It's the Valparola pass. It was a bit slippery due to snow the night before.
Shamelessly pluggin my shots of the trip.

For me, the GT2 is the only 996 that looks 'right'. I agree, considering the market for Porsches, i think would be a sensible investment.

I drove a 997 GT2 and thought that was fantastic too. Back to back with a GT3 RS, it felt ever so slightly softer, but barely anything in it. Although you can't beat the N/A sound, i was very amused by the GT2's assortment of noises! Makes the noise of a normal Turbo all the more disappointing...
