I finally have the beast at home, 911Virgin thankyou so much for the 1st class service ! Tom, your a gent sir.

I must say the car driving home was a bit of a shock, it is so nice to drive if your not driving like an idiot. Feed the power smoothly and the car feels nice and predictable. I hit a really bad section of road and the car weaved a bit but thats standard with such a hard sprung car so no drama there, clutch is more solid and the gear shift is like a rifle bolt. The power compared to my turbo feels more ready and responsive, have not given the car a fool boot yet but when I do i will make sure the road is dead flat because the power feels like the thing can take off. I know turbos can vary performance wise, my old car really did feel quick when on boost but the GT2 is simply in another league from tick over, a real Hot Rod that demands respect in the the dry so in other words this thing will not see rain.

Summary: It really is the last of the wild Porsches, simply stunning to look at, easy enough for my wife to drive at normal speeds but wickedly quick if called upon, in other words I now have the car of my dreams. Mission accomplished !
Is that it? You part exchanged your car in then?

Enjoy the car mate, they're very special. I sold mine 4 months ago after 2 years of GT2 mentalness. Drove it at the 'ring, Spa, Brands and on some nice autobahns. Nothing I've driven before or since made me smile as much.

Fingers crossed that when you get your first GT2 'moment' you're properly awake winksmile

I drove the 997 GT2 at Silverstone Experience centre last week. The only way I can describe it:

It's like opening the most powerful Coke bottle in the world. *

Glad you're enjoying the gt2 and now you too will be able to laugh at the gt3 mafia telling everyone it's just like a turbo with rwd. Until you've driven one i don't think you can understand just how many worlds they are apart from a turbo.

So far i've managed to keep mine out of the hedge in 4 years and 20k miles of having big fun in it so don't worry too much.

I think the gearshift is the worst part of the 996 GT2. Probably the worst of all the cars I've had in the past 5 years.

Both mine have been excellent. However in my experience none of them are really smooth shifting when cold.

Have you had it checked out by one of the recognised specialists ? The first Mk1 996 GT3 I test drove had an awful 'change, so much so it put me off the car and left me thinking that all of them were like that. I then drove the GT3 I own now and found its 'box to have an incredibly light and smooth change.

If the 'box has been abused by a previous owner/s with little or no mechanical sympathy, it can make the shift excessively heavy, notchy and baulky.

It's worthwhile checking the adjustment, fitting a 997 gearchange assembly (and new cables if they're stretched) and getting the oil in the 'box changed too.

If the problem persists you may find the synchro hubs have fallen victim to too many rushed up/down changes.

Depending on your location, I'd recommend you get Mike at Sports and Classic or Matt at Fearnsport to have a look at it.

I find first to second slightly sticky when cold but they're all tight and accurate when warm. A voluntary oil change last service made it just about perfect. I've not yet gone into the wrong gear.

Gearboxes are like people...you don't just spring out of bed and run down the road. You fall out of bed have a cuppa, slowy ease your way into the day!

A week later and a really good blast on the motor way has revealed that the car needs the GEO set up and some Cup links to the rear as my car has been set back to factory Porsche settings by previous owner, its a weird sensation but you can feel the back steering a bit and pulls to the left on hard throttle openings, its common with these cars so from past experience can anyone help me chose between Fearnsport and Center Gravity, I am sure that they are both awesome but just need a little advise, this PH is addictive but wooo hooo is it packed with juicy knowledge on the car that i'm just madly in love with !

Blimey mate that's a bit cheesy. You're not that bloke with the gold bracelet and budgie smugglers from over at speeding, police and the law are you ?
