Does anyone know much about this GT2? I'm thinking I might have to chop in my E46 M3 & jump in before it's too late!

Looks like Jessica Rabbit's old car, do a search, all will be revealed wink There's no such thing as a cheap/bargain 996 GT2 now.

One careful lady owner.

I jest, it wasn't her fault.

Does look nice though.

I think it once had a hot date with a truck so do your research first.

Has anyone driven the 997 GT2 and the 996 GT2 back-to-back? If so, what are the key differences aside from being newer etc.
By alot of magazines the 997 was seen as something of a "return to form" claiming that GT2 was a bit of a low mark after the granted legendary 993 GT2.
Dont get me wrong, Im lusting wildly after a 996 GT2, just curious to know the differences.

Ill be frank the GT2 scares me, good chance Id kill myself in one - but its oh so alluring...

Gavin has had both, I'm talking about GT2's now!

They are different to drive but he can give you more details, I think he still wants to get another 996 version. 😃

I have two 996GT2's, haven't driven a 997GT2 but did have a 997GT3 gen1. Comparing 996 to 997 in general:

7 has a reduced build quality (cabin) to the 6, it feels less special
7 has more brake servo feel - more akin to a golf
7 is easier to drive quickly than the 6 due to being better sorted, electronic support, torsionally stiffer shell.
7 has less steering feel
7 is prettier to look at
7 is reputed to have poor throttle response compared to 6 due to turbo type used

In summary the 7 is the more sorted, possibly more sterile, prettier modern car. It just depends on what tickles your fancy I guess. Make sure you dont think the 6 is a slouch however, its still a devastatingly quick car from A to B and not too far if at all behind the 7 when in the hands of a capable driver...

I'll be honest, I remember when I picked mine up from 911V, they had the car in there collection unit behind closed doors, it was far more special than when I purchased my 355 from Nick Cartwright. I never test drove the car before I bought it because it was the car that I wanted so that was it, as soon as I saw it even though the market was flat for them at the time I could not afford to be a dreamer. Anyway, something happened on the way home were I hit an expansion gap on the A3 under mild boost and the car got away from me with my wife in the car. I didn't drive it for weeks as I thought what have I just spent all that money on, a complete fear of the car built inside me which was terrible but I was determined to sort it, after thank God reading Slippys article on the car, I decided to get the car looked at by Chris at CG and get the Geo looked at and also install the Motorsport Cup links which are essential, it just gives you more of a planted feel and illiminates that aweful scary power steer feel. Once Chris set the car up to my requirements, he drove it first to test the set up, we took corners at speeds that would have truly seen the car leave the road in its previous set up. From that point years ago till now, my fear has gone as the chassis truly is set up to how I like it but at the same time my respect has seriously grown for the car and that's why its so special as I have had to learn how to drive it and totally focus on the drive which gives me joy beyond words. I have heard that the 997 is a more forgiving car out the box but it was the clean lines of the 996GT2 got me. Each GT2 is like a tailored suit, so one will feel completely different to the next as chances are its been set up for the previous owner so don't start out with fear in mind, when and if you find one, just ask for the Geo specs and when was the suspension last overhauled because if it is tired with knocks and bangs And worn out treads, trust me you'll need to wear Pampers every time you go for a spirited drive.

I have driven a standard GT2, mine has a very mild DMS map which has smoothed the Turbo spike from
The power delivery which makes it feel more like a V8 muscle car ie flat torque curve without the wiz bang, sounds crazy
But the extra power the car feels more safe if that's makes any sense. The Bucket seats also make a huge difference to the
Feel and confidence side of the drive, you feel more from your backside if all is going well between the tyres and the road.

Just my personal take on the 996 as I am NO guru, just an average driver learning an awesome car.

Apart from the 997GT2 being prettier the above is utter bks IMO hehe

I have the 997GT2 product info PDF which compares in detail the differences between the 6 and 7 GT2 if anyone wants it drop me a PM - this will give readers the true picture.

Had a look at the ad and it states HPI certificate (doesn't say what it confirms, but assume clear or wouldn't be mentioned?) and Experian clear. The value of the car is high enough that it would be recorded.... wouldn't it?

What's the 'GOB car?'

For some reason the Jessica Wabbit car wasn't listed as a cat car but at the time the owner advised on PH that the damage was extensive and the insurance company had settled with her. The reg plate contained the letters GOB at one time.
