Probably because of the slightly more aggressive nature of the GT2, and most people will be faster around a track in a 3 from the off.
I've talked to a couple people who went from GT3 to GT2 and was initially slower around a track. Until they got used to the car that is.. Now they would never go back
I am yet to even see my car in the flesh, but my dad and my brother took it out the other night and their words was "Sell it, it is way too fast. NO one need performance like that!". Now dad drives a c220 cdi and my brother a volvo 960 gle so I am not surprised they found it a 'bit' intimidating.
Sounds perfect to me, I can't wait!
first time i get to see mine is end of April

For the uninitiated they're a handful. Period.
Plenty have been stacked by Porsche technicians on roadtests thinking they're a "sharper" 996 Turbo.
As has been said on numerous occasions, they need treating with respect and common sense, nothing more.

^ This. Letting the uninitiated drive them is precisely how the GT2 earned itself the widowmaker tag.........

Well, I would be more wary of a Porsche technician or anyone else used to driving Porsches, AMG's and other such cars as they would think they are used to power so would go out, warm it up (hopefully) and then nail it.For the uninitiated they're a handful. Period.

I know the people I let drive the car respect it 100% and would be very very careful indeed.
I would also wager that the majority of the widows out there had husbands that were probably used to powerful cars of some sort and thought they knew how to handle it, rather then guys who took it out and used the throttle like they had eggshells underneath it.
But thanks! I do genuinely appreciate you concern, and understand 100% what you are saying! There won't be anyone driving this car that might endanger themselves or others.

I drove a 997 GT2 at Dunsfold at the Porsche Vmax, very nice, suppose to be 650hp still like my 996T though, also drove a 600hp 997T and a 997 Turbo S PDK with a map, which would I take home as a car value aside? The 997 TurboS PDK !!!
Interesting. Would you swap you 996t for the pdk car?IMIA said:

It just did everything so well and easily, felt blisteringly quick, put a supposed 700hp R35 in its place yet could still drive from the UK to southern Spain in luxury. Dont get me wrong I love mine but its much harder work with the 890nm clutch and GT2 clutch conversion, mine is quite focused with 250lbs weight removed and the brakes and clutch and coilovers and exhaust and centerlocks which is why its prob closer to a GT2 in drive experience (especially with the PSM off and Syvecs TC on) I managed a 4.1 0-60 in the GT2 and a 3.2 in the PDK car !!! The owner of the GT2 could not get under 5 secs to 60. GT2 managed 3mph on top of the PDK (173-170mph)Mr10secs said:

So you would perhaps swap or you would not? What top speed did you manage at VMAX out of interest? I was in same situation and chose to upgrade my car instead of going to 991 Turbo. Couldn't be happier!
Forgetting money aside at the moment it would be a close call BUT my car is running reduced boost because the injectors are at 97% duty cycle so im down maybe 50-60hp, im just about to fit some GT28's in Tial housings and a fuel system and 1100cc injectors, I suspect at over 700hp the answer would be Ill keep the 996, BUT the 997S was a hell of a car, as was the GT2, I would keep mine over the GT2 before you ask !!!KAL said:
Had a great turnout of GT2s this morning (9-10 cars) at Reading OPC open morning, good to see some old and new faces
Will be looking to sort something else out for May sometime
Great to see so many GT2s together on Saturday and to meet a few new owners - shame that mine decided to eat its starter motor on the same day! Will be heading back to Reading this week to collect it again. Will be looking to sort something else out for May sometime
Looking forward to the next event.
I'll be updating the GT2 registers with about 75 cars this week, thanks to EvoEng for the GT2 data/pics, that should be most of them listed
What a morning, just the drive alone down to Chiswick being the only car on the road at 6am was just bliss, it was like
having your own race track to yourself.
Karl, thanks so much for arranging. Lovely to see old faces and some new ones so all in all I'll give the morning 10/10.
This pic summed it up for me, it was like having two stunning women touching there toes Lol.
Off to Spa Friday so will post some pics, not tracking the car but just following a friend down for the drive.
