Yup, my old car.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just fancied a change. Perfect car for someone who actually wants to drive their GT2.

New suspension and CG setup. Spare performance friction discs and pads to go with the ceramics.

Lovely car. I hate it when cars are tucked away and not driven as they should be!

I bet it went like the proverbial!

I'll just let this photo do the talking. Balls and Steel come to mind, It was so steep I could barely get halfway up the banking.

A track for Gladiators

Not sure if I ever posted these but here was a set of Porsche GT2 discs that we refurbished some time ago. The customer was absolutely over the moon and saved quite a wedge of money too over OEM prices.

It was a strange spec looking at the Coys brochure. Unless it's a MK2 the horsepower rating was wrong and also
Mentioned refurbished discs from Simco but it was on steels at the front and PCCB rears. They were probably waiting
for the fronts to be returned from Germany.

Was this Jessica's old car ?
May be it helps:

The 996 platform was used as the basis for two lightweight GT variants called GT2 and GT3. The GT3 was based on the standard 996 Carrera, but was stripped of a great deal of equipment for weight saving.

IIRC The GT3 was heavier than a standard C2.

Does any lap times exist of the same driver in a 996 gt3 rs and a 996 gt2 on the same track?

Nordschleife full lap times all driven by the editor of the Sport Auto.

8:03 Porsche 911 GT3 Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (08/1999)
7:54 Porsche 911 GT3 Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (8/2004)
7:47 Porsche 911 GT3RS Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (8/2004)
7:46 Porsche 996 GT2 Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (06/2001)

Factor in the tire technology development after 2000 as you wish. Original PS1s were crap.

What a funny week it's been, car was almost sold this week but the buyer could not come up with what he
Originally offered. I had no intention of selling the car but what he offered got me looking at a LHD 360CS. Anyway
Cut a long story short I still have the car and boy am I glad I still have it ! Had an amazing drive to Hastings today through
the country side, pulled over just to get my heart rate back to normal and a fellow GT owner was out doing the same thing so he did a Uturn and parked up and had a natter about all things GT, one owner car since new.

One thing I have noticed, now that the temperature is dropping in general, the car feels wickedly quick, which has actually shocked me on a couple of recent outings. After 5 years I still cannot believe how savage this car pulls.

Off to the States for work in the morning but car will be at Goodwood on Sunday next week.

Glad you didn't sell because there is no substitute for the GT2, and your car look so good with those wheels
Cold wheather and turbo's, a perfect combination.

Car still lives in Sweden but with the 930 gone and garage space freed up, plans are in motion to get it over.

In the meantime my dad takes it out from time to time to keep cobwebs a bay, here taking my niece to horse training.
If Carlsberg did grandparents.. cool

Which is why I cannot understand why they lose money after first purchase and only start to recover financially after about 4 years old?

I'm sure the forthcoming 991 GT2 will be the same but the RS will be worth list +£150k after it's driven out of the showroom.

Awesome smile

Car looks great.

I've just agreed a sale on my Cayman R so that should be gone this week. I've decided to use the GT2 as and when I want now. I bought the Cayman R to keep the GT2 miles down after the values started going up. The reality is that I don't have much time to drive either now and when I do drive the Cayman I wish I was in the GT2. I'll never sell the GT2 so I've decided that it makes no difference if it's got 34,000 or 134,000 miles on it.

Driving it at Goodwood next weekend, and we've got the GT2 meet at Silverstone on the 24th October, is everyone signed up for that?

Forum member Wycoller (now called oldandcrankie biggrin) was kind enough to email me this evening with pictures of his GT2 and the refurbished discs he received from SICOM and he gave me his blessing to share them with you all.

and here are his thoughts

Hi Schermherhorn
Good day
My dealings with Wolfgang, first class service and a true gent. Yes there was a mix up regarding the returning of the Refurb discs , but easy mistake no problem at all. Its not as if I was desperate for the discs. I have Alcons on at the moment. My main concern was losing them.
I’m presently in the USA so the discs have yet to be installed , etc. this I’m planning for winter and hopefully I’ll be home in Spring to try them out.
Here are photos they look absolutely like brand new and I, m very pleased, what a great service you provide. If they perform as good as they look enough said!
Yes id have absolutely no hesitation in using you again and recommending you to other owners.
Thank you for the follow up
PS I was going to post but couldn’t manage it so by all means please post on my behalf and copy and paste my response.
Cheers
James
Many thanks again James!

That's where I'm at with my car now, it purely is there to drive. Even if it has 120k on the clock in years to come, as long
As its properly looked after which I take pride in doing as standard anyway, it will always be worth what I paid for it so I'm not
Bothered about mileage now.

Good news about sale of Cayman R

Reference GT2 meet only at Silverstone on the above date, numbers now up to about 15 cars to date but would like to try and get to 20 cars!
so if anyone else would like to bring their car to this please email me or 996GT2 with your details, as this will be the most GT2's in one place?

If anyone has details of the meet let me know. I will bring one, or two if I can find a trusted individual to drive the other.... ;-)
