If you have a remap it's possible that you're in RR2 during normal driving if the rev limiter was raised.

40 hours ago is actually quite a while! At an average of 30mph 1200 miles in fact.

Have you checked the total running hours against the total mileage?
No point raising the rev limit on a Turbo/GT2, as put crudely, you just whack up the boost and chuck some more fuel in.

The car which required the cam chains, guides, tensioners and intermediate shaft replacement was my old car. I sold it to 911V, they sold it to an Australian, who subsequently sold it back to them before selling it to Jason (Consul)
The camchain replacement had nothing to do with RR2 overrevs in that instance.

Fredt, I wasn't sure where the car was, had it been in the UK I could've advised on individuals to inspect it/carry out the engine tests.

Funny that's one of the reasons why I snapped it up. JAZ noticed
a slight noise so rather 911V sell me the car they decided to make sure
at a huge expense. JAZ split the block and went through each piece
Nut and bolt so it was a no brainer for me to buy the car. Interesting point to make,
the shaft on the block has a number of bolts which you would assume is helicoiled but due to
Cost Porsche decided not to which is crazy, mine had about 50thou of play due to the
Two piece nature, I now have the Porsche updated shaft but it's interesting that this
Was not a recall for all GT1 blocks. The Carrera has the IMS problem but the Mezger has its issues to
when they decide to play up.

Shameless plug!

I've thoroughly enjoyed having owning the GT2's forefather, but it's time for a change!

Do any of you track your cars as nature intended or are you more price checkers & polishers....smile Have hardly ever seen any GT2's on track... I suppose the chances of seeing any will dwindle even further with all this fuss about the values going up.... Shame as set up they are a total weapon on track.

My old 996 at Bedford:

Spa

997 at the 'ring

They're great cars on track, although looking at the way the values are going it does make you think twice, I'm not sure you'd ever be able to find another one if you have an off.

Nice one, now isnt that better than all this talk about prices or how many times your engine has been revved or what car has had a new front wing, I cant believe how much garbage IHMO is posted on this GT2 thread... I know dont read it then but I just keep hoping somebody posts something interesting... Nice pics!!

I will be lapping the Nurburgring in June, but must admit mine has a few layers of polish.

Fredt - step up from the bronze 930 to the GT2 should be an interesting journey !!!!

It will be a shame if 996 GT2s disappear off the road and become part of someone's pension planning , although to be fair the car has been massively undervalued in the market for so long compared to others that I can see why owners are getting excited about the current trends.

Here's some more pics of my cars:

Consul, I believe that's the GT3 you're going to look at smile

Come on Gavin, dig deep!

You know that a blk/blk 996 GT2 is your "Eleanor" (Gone in 60 seconds).

The ship is sailing and gathering pace, I've joked that they will soon start with a £1xxxxx.

For those tempted to sell what on earth can you replace it with at the same or similar price point from Porsche?

I always planned to try and buy that car back - if the owner of RG02 OHT (GT02 GAV) is looking to sell let me know. I guess she's on about 80k miles or so now, if she's in good nick I'll happily buy it back.
