Careful of what exactly? Internet hearsay?
I used to own that car. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Chris @ CG said it was a good example when I took it to him.
I wonder how many other GT2s out there have been in similar situations or worse, but weren't documented on the Internet
It's not Cat d, the chassis is all original, all the mounting points original, and Geo and body alignment were spot on. So what's to watch?
Just curious as people tried to warn me off it when I bought it, but neither Chris @ CG nor myself could see any reason not to buy it.
Other than some blokes on the Internet of course.

To be fair the car could well be straight chassis wise but the problem is the paintwork is pretty poor on a lot of it and it just doesn't give you much confidence in the quality of the repair, especially if you're looking at 6 figure asking prices.
I'd probably buy it but I wouldn't pay anything like what it was valued at at Silverstone.

i've seen confusing reports about the two GT2s at Silvrstone. Did they both have poor paint then? As, although I couldn't call it pristine, I didn't really think the paint was that bad. What specifically are you referring to? Just curious. I know the one area I would have had sorted if I'd kept it, but it wasn't so much a paint problem.
Agree about the prices though, and in general, the GT2 is a good car, an £80k + car it is not, in my opinion.

Parked under the lights at the Auction, you could see were the roof paint has been flicked in i.e. blended as there was a clear line, sub standard Body prep from whoever did the repairs. The door handles should have been taken off when the doors were painted but you could see over spray on the black rubbers, also through the paint you could see the cross hatching were it has received filler but the block sanding has not been worked down to a finer grade.
Fluorescent Lights are possibly the most unforgiving light source to park a car under unless it it absolutely die straight as it shows everything.
I am about to get my front bumper sprayed and a small scratch on my drivers door looked at which could result in the front wing and door painted, its a small scratch which only I can notice but Im a fussy git. Whoever does the paintwork, I will tell them straight get the prep perfect or don't bother because the devil is in the detail especially if its under lights.
I swear by Chris at CG and once he has fully surveyed any car he will tell you if its a fraction out or not so clearly the GT2 is within factory tolerances.
The other GT2 with 20K was a good example which I think is with Paragon, the paint just looked deep which enabled a focused eye to separate the two examples on Auction. The reality is
its still an investment because the fact is there are not that many actually on the road so its never going to be what the car was worth 2-3 years ago, it can only rise but not shoot up because of the history which will be the same for any car thats had a bit more than a kiss unless its Rowan Atkinsons F1 McLaren.

That's what I feared, guess I'll just have to use it now and hope my limited edition mint kit-kat collection starts to appreciate.
I'd forgotten how much more fun it is to drive it on damp roads, the grip in the dry makes it a bit predictable - you haven't really gotten to know a GT2 until you've understeered straight across a roundabout in the wet

Saw this on the shelf yesterday, you were saying 80k ?
If I was looking from scratch for a pure drivers car with a dash board clean of all safety switches
and soon to come soft landing ejector seats , I would spend the 100k plus for one. Just look at 964RS
prices, fantastic car with stunning pure lines, some even with huge miles on the clock but cars like these
are at this price now because you will never again see such analogue cars on a showroom floor out the box.
