South African car magazine "Top Car" has a small feature on the Gemballa situation this month.

In it, they note that on Oct 29th a chap called Thabiso Mpshe was arrested for the murder following a tip-off.
He was tried in a Jo-Burg court that same afternoon, convicted and imprisoned for 20 years!

A few days later, the South African police confirm that the investigation is still ongoing as they think Mpshe wasn't working alone.

Suspicion is falling on it being something to do with Radovan Krejcir a Czech billoinaire and fugitive who's been hiding in SA for 3 years and is a business associate of Uwe's.

Honestly, the whole thing's like a Miss Marple episode!!

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I was reading TG magazine on the train home yesterday about Uwe Gemballa. I'd never really paid much Attention to his work, but reading the mag painted the story of a man driven to desperate measures to save his business. Horrible end for him too.. frown

Yes his taste was, we, questionable but I don't think he deserved to end up like that.

The trial revealed that the cause of death was that he had been bound in gaffer tape and sat on until he asphyxiated.

Not a nice way to go.

Supposedly, the chap who killed him did it as part of 'a previous criminal arrangement' with a 3rd party....
