GT2register.com?

If you're making the effort why limit to 996?

That looks pretty useful.

I could probably set something like this up if there's enough interest.
That would be great, lets hope others are interested as well.
Yep interested.
Ok, that's 3 people interested, that's enough for me. I'll work out all of the info we need and make a start on the database/website.

We'll need a domain name, widowmaker-register.com, 996gt2db.com etc etc.
Thanks for getting on the case, much appreciated

If over time 996GT2 can put in more categories then the website could possibly hold details for all rare and numbered Porsches.

Maybe a category for:
996 GT3/RS, 997 GT3/RS/Gen 1/Gen 2
996 GT2 Mk1, Mk2, 997 GT2/GT2 RS
Carrera GT?

Not a problem, we'll need a generic name for it then - something like 911GTregister.com or GTregister.com (I bet some swine will read this and buy these before we make the decision hehe )

I've contacted Porsche to ask for 996 GT2 numbers, not sure I'll get anything back but the plan is to have a set number of entries for the UK spec cars that we can work towards filling in rather than leaving it open ended.

It's not going to contain sensitive information that could be useful to thieves such as reg/full vin/owner contact etc. More of a simple list of all cars with info about history/mods/spec etc indexed by partial vin numbers as with the 355 register. It could be very useful if we get enough input.

I've seen a post on here that shows the registered cars in each year...
2001 for instance - 12 cars (mines one of these)
2004 - 16 sounds about right..

I'd trawl for it but workin..

anyway +1 for me registering. Not seen another 'Y' or 51 reg GT2 talked about or advertised in last few years..mine might be the only 2001 car left!

Does that really mean that there was only 16uk registered factory clubsports in total? If thats true my 2003 clubsport is pretty rare, and i wonder how many are left now, also mines speed yellow so i wonder if we could find out how many cars in each colour were produced,in clubsport and comfort specs.
Also i'm really keen to see this registry and would like to be on board
cheers

Mine's a factory GT2 clubsport, M003 on option list (only way of telling - lots of converted wanabees around), so that makes 2 out of the 16. any more out there?

Haven't forgotten about this. I've put together a basic list of required info for each car, I'll post it later so people can comment and add to it.

As for the domain, I reckon a generic domain will do best as we can then allow other limited run models to use it, GT3/964RS/Turbo LE etc etc.

I'd guess more than 129...but maybe only 129 that were officially for sale in UK.
I checked mine had the 'UK' code on the VIN. I'm sure there are probably some imports.

Afternoon Gents, just wondered if anyone knew the whereabouts of the Red Press Car - a clubbie also I think? Is it still on circulation or has it gone to it's final trackday/road review in the sky?!

Still out there, saw it a few months ago when it went in for a service and now it has come carbon goodies. Must say, looks great!

129 UK Cars is correct.

There are a few C98 (Cyprus Spec) cars in the UK. From doing a little research 3 years or so ago the only differences were lack of underseal/body protectant and a lesser spec'd Alarm/Immobiliser.

Example of a C98 car here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1741854.htm
