grant3, afraid you are incorrect...the OBC CAN be retro-fitted to all Boxsters, including '03 onwards models, as long as they have climate control (therefore have the external temp sensor). If no climate then it may be possible, but you just don't get the outside temp display.

As ToolPants said, look on boxa.net

Blimey Greig I bow to your greater knowledge, wanted one on the other half's car & my OPC said no way it was possible. Is it an official retro fit or a "wire it yourself & hope job" ????

Our local Boxster group has done over 30 retrofits over the years on 1997-2003. I even made a DVD showing it being done on 4 cars. Except for the VW wires we use Porsche parts. All of the retrofits I have done have worked.

The instructions we use were prepared by the shop foreman at my local dealer who is also a Boxster owner and the technical advisor to the Porsche Club of America. There are Porsche dealers who know nothing about this as there is nothing published by Porsche on the subject.

I have just completed an OBC retrofit on my 03 Boxster S.
I replaced the standard 2-stalk with the OBC 3-stalk to keep the car as std as possible.

You also need to make up a small wiring harness to connect the new stalk to the back of the instrument cluster to facilitate the cycling of the OBC functions.

Your dealer can enable the OBC function using the PST2 machine, which will display the outside temperature on older cars (97-00) but nothing is displayed on a 01 and newer car, as it shares the same display area as the trip odometer.

There is a ton of detail on www.boxa.net and other US sites on completing this mod.

Cheers
