My understanding is that a London car went to a F1 Driver. Along with it was not up to the OPC to decide who has a car, it was left up to PCGB.

I know the dealer he usually buys through but I guess he could have changed to ensure he got an allocation

Or could be someone else entirely .......although wouldnt that be scottish dealer as local ....?

If a non UK driver wouldnt they buy from their 'local' country dealer ?

Indeed, and has been sighted doing PR at the Porsche experience center and recently demoed the GT1 '98 at the opening of the Red Bull Ring... If he asked for one I am fairly certain that he would be getting one... wink

It does say a lot about the car as these wheelmen could have any car they want

and 2 of the nicest F1 drivers too

You lucky people who get one are in very good company .... must make you feel even better about your choice ?

I personally know of a number of F1 drivers over the years that have ran a 911 RS, as a personal car.

Apparently this 4.0 one, is an absolute screamer……..

Porsche claims a ring time of 7.27 compared to the rs of 7.33.

If valid would be an absolute screamer!

God what a gorgeous car that it .......which begs the question ....

Which would you rather have in your garage ? the 2.7 RS icon or the very latest Stuttgart metal 4.0 swansong ?

ETA and 'NO' you cant have both .....

Thats one of those "would you prefer to be blind or deaf" sort of questions. Loss of either painful. In the end I would go for the earlier car, (let's forget cost), because there will continue to be faster and better moderns, but there's only on Daddy.........

I'll take the 4.0 car all day long... Provided the active suspension is thrown away and its got some decent passive dampers on it

I have no doubt that the GT R is the performance bargain of the century, and will likely beat just about anything. I just can't warm to it ,though, despite its numbers. Maybe I'm too old for the graphicssmile
