I can renew my insurance through Admiral for £385.00 instead of £868.00 through Manning. OK, no trackday cover but not a problem at the moment and maybe a few issues over repairs if ever required. Does anyone have anything really bad to say about Admiral or do I save nearly £500.00.

They're pretty full on when it comes to the initial sales (avoid paying in installments; almost hilarious premium for that) but not had any bad experiences of them thus far.

I had a claim through Admiral for my old C2 back in 2007. Only needed a few phone calls to them to sort it out, I dropped the car off at an OPC and it was then sorted with an OPC approved repairer, no hassle, no issues.

Manning actually quoted less than Admiral for my GT2.

Well - its £500 really and hopefully there won't ever be a claim but what did they do to piss you off so much?

Spill the beans!
I'm with admiral, but haven't yet had t omake a claim.
I do know, however, that in the event of total loss, they pay out the market value, as if it was a standard car. So if yours has PCM, etc, you get paid the same as a base model(apparently)
Had a couple of payment issues that were sorted out very well.

I'll give 'em a whirl come renewal time. Don't feel entirely comfortable being with one of the big insurers but, at the time, needs must etc...

Is that an incredibly low price compared to other insurers too?

Not Porsche, but both my kid's cars were with Admiral and the premiums are often very random and every renewal took a phone call to sort out. The premium on older daughter's car leapt up last year when she was 25 rather than dropping a lot as I expected. So went elsewhere.

Touch wood, no claims experience, thankfully.

Err - yes. Lowest I got except for Elephant. Manning middle of the field at £868 for renewal of 4th year and quotes up to £1700 so far.

I have used them in the past and only claimed for windscreen. They would only use their approved supplier otherwise they would make a minimal contribution to my choice of supplier.

Good initial service, but decided to move away from them this year for the Porker (kept the other cars on multi car with them) as I had concerns over similar issues if I ever needed to get the car repaired on insurance.

Got the Porsche insured directly with Porsche insurance this time including 2 trackdays (UK only) and OPC repairs if a claim is needed.

Elephant (and Bell and Diamond) are part of the same group as Admiral.

If it's way lower then it might be a mistake. Whether you'd be able to get that price by buying online, I don't know.

That's absolutely standard practice for windscreens.

Ran it twice and phoned to confirm too so its a real price. I guessed there was some Elephant connection as the online form is identical except for it not working properly.....

In my experience if you 'phone them they'll say they can't see that price and give you a totally different one.

Had this with Bell one year for younger daughter. She was already with them but renewal was stupid. Online quote way cheaper so rang and said I'll renew at that price and they said they couldn't see it but I could cancel renewal and take out new policy but had to do it online through the link on the quote. I did and it was fine.

When you call Admiral/Bell etc you're speaking to the same people. Someone mentioned British call centre - if you call in the evening you get their call-centre in Halifax. That's Halifax, Nova Scotia!

Please be wary of Bell/Admiral/Elephant

Optional extras are not covered unless they are explicitly declared and form part of the schedule. for german cars such as Porsche, Audi and BMW we all know the basic spec is very likely to have been optioned up.

From their policy booklet

We will not cover:
any modifications unless they form part of the manufacturers standard specification or are optional extras that we have agreed to cover. See also Extra Conditions (endorsement 11)

So make sure you declare every modification and optional extra.
