Well, in my mind, if you colossally cock up from a customer service point of view, I dunno, by perhaps forgetting to cancel a customer's insurance policy, forgetting to issue a refund, and then renewing a policy which is the actually the second one in force from the same company on the same car, you might, just might, decide in the interests of customer service, to not be so fast to slap on a £20 fee for running a single piece of A4 off a printer and sticking it an envelope, when it's only got 3 weeks left to go anyway. Bit like the way I didn't charge them a £20 admin fee for sitting on several hundred quid of mine for a few months.
Which bit of "in the interests of customer service" are you struggling with? Because you're struggling with it more than they are, as they said "fair enough...we'll waive it" when I pointed out the error of their ways.
Apologies for my previous post, I just get very frustrated when people expect to be able to make changes to policies and expect the insurer to pick up the tab - that cost is passed on to the rest of us!Which bit of "in the interests of customer service" are you struggling with? One thing I don't understand is why, when you were offered a multi-car policy, you didn't realise that they this get you wanted to ensure both your cars?
Apology accepted. Look, I don't thing you understand what's happened here.
This is what should have happened...
-320 already insured with Admiral, due to expire in June 14
-In Feb 14 I'm stood outside someone's house having just bought a 986 that needs insuring to drive away so I ring Admiral.
-They say fine, it will be a better deal if they cancel the existing 320 policy, and I take out a new "multicar" policy starting that day for both cars. I should then get a refund back on the "unused" portion of the 320 policy (February-June).
-I buy the new new policy...what should happen next is that I and the other half can now drive both cars home on the new multi car policy, the refund should turn up in my bank account, and I shouldn't need to speak to Admiral until Feb 15 when the multicar policy is up for renewal again.
What actually happened...
-I buy the new multicar policy
-They forget to cancel the 320 policy. It's now insured twice...and that's illegal
-They never give me my refund
-Fast forward to June, when the old 320 policy that should have been cancelled "expires", and they auto-renew it, even though it should have been cancelled back in Feb and I also insist that anything I ever buy is never auto-renewed.
Do you now get the magnitude of their fk up and why I was pretty pissed off when they had the gall to want to charge me £20 for a piece of A4 that would be needed for only 3 weeks? And can you see how long that took to sort out on an 0871 to what sounded like an offshore call centre and why their poxy £20 offer of compensation for ages talking to an 0871 number, making me technically illegal, and sitting on a chunk of my money, and helping themselves to the contents of my bank account against my instructions was perhaps not in line with my expectations?

I have 3 cars with Admiral on a multi car policy, 1, 2012 Kia Sportage, 2, 2006 Audi A3 Quattro S Line Turbo and 3, 2004 996 GT3,
I have been a customer with Admiral for several years and the premium for all 3 cars is under 1k,
First two cars don't worry me at all in the event of a claim but must admit I don't really want to put it to the test regarding the GT3 as its worth considerably more than when I purchased it.
I have spoken to Admiral about this and was assured that I would get full current market value to replace the car in the event of a total loss even if cost to replace is more than the purchase price.
Hopefully I will never have to find out. But fairs fair they have always been very good in the past when I have needed them to do stuff. I have no complaints with them.
Only company I would ever stay away from is esure but that's another story.

I have just bought by first Porsche, a 996 C2 3.6.
I have been with Admiral for years for my cars, from RX7 FDs to my last car, a 330i. For the Porsche they were again by far the cheapest, with the best combination of voluntary, excess, legal cover, courtesy car...
I am 36, married, with two kids, live in Kent, full comp with wife insured too and for business use as well for us both.
Costs £300 in one annual lump sum.
The only niggle (as said before by others) is every year the little dance with Admiral of reminding them it is cheaper to join as a new customer, as opposed to reducing existing customer's renewals!

Had my E61 M5 with Admiral. Car was stolen. First offer from Admiral - £18k for a mintier than mint, fully loaded E61 M5 with FBMWSH and 49k miles on the clock at 5yrs old... It took the intervention of the Financial Ombudsman and 6 weeks for them to pay £22.5k... My GT3 insurance with Lockton is £300 more than Admiral, but once bitten, twice shy. The daily beater X5 4.8i is with them, but I could not care less if I get short changed there...

Guys - whats the deal with optional extras and admiral?
Both my cars (AR Giulietta and Tiguan R line) have a number of upgrades which are included as part of their respective model lines (Sportiva and R Line)
Do these need to be declared?
You need to declare them preferably by e mailing a copy of the spec sheet from when the car was new. Both my cars (AR Giulietta and Tiguan R line) have a number of upgrades which are included as part of their respective model lines (Sportiva and R Line)

If you have a heavily specced car you really do have to take out GAP insurance regardless of the insurance company. I'm just buying a Cayenne with £30k of options on it (ex Sales manager's demo)....I am most definitely getting GAP!

I won't go near Admiral again with anything remotely nice/valuable after how they handled a claim on my old F355 Spider back in 2011. It was as shocking as it was inept. Took about 4 months to get the car repaired (and not from lack of parts or anything) on a claim where the other party admitted fault. Think it took another 6 months to get my additional losses back as well.I have my DD and my wife's car with Admiral. And the Pork with Manning. Had a claim with Admiral to sort a small bump on the wife's car - all dealt with very efficiently. I do have to get a quote from other insurers each year to stop being ripped off with the renewal, but my experience is most insurers behave that way.
With Manning, I had to claim for a replacement windscreen in my 964 which got cracked as it was being removed to have some paint work done. Manning paid the full claim - c. £1,500 - with no hassle. The garage said with most insurers would only pay what their preferred glass company would charge (Autoglass etc), and the issue with those guys is that on older cars where replacing screens needs a bit of skill, they often cause long-term damage.
So my bet would be you get an easier claims experience with Manning that you will with one of the big boys - whether that's worth the extra will only matter if you have to make a claim.
