New Porsche Cayenne Diesel

Oh, and forgot to mention - the chappy at the OPC dropped out that a new V6 diesel engine will be announced next year for the Cayenne with around 300 bhp, but apparently it won't be the BiTDI....!
Very interesting.
I think you will find it will most definately be the BiTDI and have a bit more than 300hp. It has 313 in the Audi range. Cayenne S ditching V8 and using 3.0 V6 turbo developing about 420hp. All changes coming with the facelift early next year.Very interesting.

Any idea on when the facelift & new diesel engine will happen? Are we talking March/April?
He didn't say, but the Macan was supposed to be getting the BiTDI and I've not seen it in the line up yet. Perhaps the earlier reports of Audi not wanting to release the engine to Porsche are true, but I find that hard to believe seeing as they are part of the same group.ETA, the BiTDI would probably bring PDK with it, which wouldn't suit the Cayenne one bit IMO.

I thought the Cayenne already had PDK.Edited by Cobnapint on Friday 1st November 14:18
Edit. Just checked the website. You're right the Diesel I had a go in the other day had 8 speed Tiptronic and I thought I was driving a PDK! 0/10 for observation Seemed very good though and did suit the car.

Interesting, but those figures won't mean too much to your local OPC salesman when he gives you his valuation of your p&j 3 weeks before you're due to collect your new one.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/articles/2013/10/uncat...
And its a pity Autotrader couldn't be arsed to find a more recent image of the Cayenne.

Agreed on the picture. But as for trading it back to an opc, I would be unlikely to be doing that. And its a pity Autotrader couldn't be arsed to find a more recent image of the Cayenne.
More news (although from June, but for those who haven't seen it) on the MY 2015 refresh. Looks like it'll get the Macans steering wheel, new rear light clusters, revised lower rear bumper design and exhaust outlets, with minor changes at the front.

I've been toying with a 4wd replacement for my 330d touring which has done me proud, family hack, continental tourer and dog-carrier combined. So now we have a second large dog and we'd like a 4wd and have tried all the contenders this last month including the new RR vogue but preferred the Cayenne diesel in most respects. Was considering nearly new but with residuals so high have started speccing up a new build. With delivery quoted as 5 months it seems madness not to wait for the new model, albeit with only small changes judging by the spy shots.
Does anyone have an idea when they will start to take orders for the new model? At what point do they announce this is it, these are the last of the current shape. Any advice would be appreciated as I tend to keep my cars for 2-4 years generally and feel buying the last off the line of this current shape would not be advisable.

You could always pay a deposit to put your name on the list and then defer the final spec until you are sure that you be speccing the facelift model. That way you will be one of the first to receive the new model. Does anyone have an idea when they will start to take orders for the new model? QUESTIONS ON TYRES
My 20' Cayenne wheels came shod with Yokohamas and on checking over the weekend I was surprised to see how worn they are after only 9,500 miles when I don't drive that hard. The wear is even and I reckon the fronts have a max of 2,000 left and the rears about 4,000. Am I wrong to have expected more?
Anyone recommend another brand that may last longer without losing performance?
Do All weather tyres last longer and if so any recommendations. Are All Weather significantly better in the winter and do you lose out in Summer?
Thanks for any advice.

That's terrible.
I have a Cayenne D, supplied new with 20" Continental 'All Seasons' - can't fault them - quiet, compliant, excellent handling and security under all conditions, - just covered 46k miles over three years.
All four replaced at 30k miles, but still had 3mm +. New ones are the same (later evolution) - 16k miles and look less than 1/2 worn.
Also, great rim protection - not a single mark on the wheels from new.
