This is just a facelift (ie 958.2) as opposed to a completely new model that will be a long in a couple of years, I wonder if the revised model will get PDK or if it will be the gen 3 that does.
yes perhaps I should have been clearer with my last statement - the facelift between 958.1 and 958.2 seems more subtle than the difference between 957.1 and 957.2. I think Porsche want to pitch the Cayenne as more relaxed than the Macan so will probably stick with the auto, possibly use PDK for the Turbo etc like the Panamera?

I would consider getting a new turbo if it has PDK, properly not worth the change otherwise. Having said that not much wrong with the current gearbox!

Oh, and forgot to mention - the chappy at the OPC dropped out that a new V6 diesel engine will be announced next year for the Cayenne with around 300 bhp, but apparently it won't be the BiTDI....!

Very interesting.
Probably most definitely could well might be coming to a Cayenne near you - the new 3.0 V6 Diesel engine (non BiTDi, and non-PDK) that has just been released for the Panamera.

300hp (296bhp) @ 4000rpm (a Cayenne gain of 55hp)

479lb/ft @ 1750-2500rpm (a Cayenne gain of 73lb/ft)

Emmisions and fuel consumption also reduced. Autocar tested it here.

Got a panamera loaner with this engine in it, still a pretty gutless unit for a Porsche. The V8 diesel sounds and goes much much better. The only unit to go for in the Cayenne IMO. Owned both the V6 and V8 cayennes you would be mad not to go for the v8 for the modest extra outlay. Unless you doing mega miles.

Was speaking to one of the top bods from Reading HQ today. No date fixed yet but he confirmed that the new V6 diesel engine will definitely be coming to the Cayenne towards the end of this year and will coincide with the launch of the MY2015 facelift.

Yellow Calipers

I decided to have yellow calipers whenever I bought a black car, and with Porsche supplying a decent set and me choosing Jet Black Metallic, this was the time.

I thought long and hard about getting the Ceramic brakes but even I have to stop spec’ing at some point, although the amount of brake dust that comes off I now in the back of my mind think should have just ticked ceramics may be next time, LOL

When spec’ing the car I asked if they would & could spray the black calipers yellow, of course was the answer so presto that was done.

Since I have owned the car this is the most spoken about bit on the car, and I think you will agree with the black painted wheel centers and backs they just go, but I would say that.

Probably not to everyone’s taste but they are to mine

Hi Saj,

Great looking car you have there! Mine is in the blue and I was thinking of getting the same done. Question about the brake dust though. How are your calipers holding up a few years on? Do they look just as fresh?

Thanks for the compliment, absolutely like the day I got the car, but I have never let anyone clean the car, I do it myself, good scrub with some soft brushes and car shampoo is all it needs, cars going in for a service in 2 weeks, and I mentioned please do not wash the car, and the the lady at service desk said yes we have a note on your records, LOL.

Anyone in Thames Valley area?

We're having a Big Boys night (Panamera, Cayenne, 928) at the local TiPEC meet. Would be good to show the pretenders in the sports cars how things should be done!

Details here: http://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1...

7pm onwards at the Novello on the A4 between Reading and Maidenhead Tuesday 6th May.

hi saj,

the spec that got on my car,

air suspension
PASM
sportdesign bodykit with sideskirts.
universal audio interface
sat nav
power tailgate.
standard wheels, gonna put my 22inch porsche turbo 2 replica wheels.
full leather interior.

didnt go too crazy with the options, easy to spec car well over 90k.
forgot to add multifunction steering wheel. regretting that now.
gotta say the v8 is awesome, gonna take some getting used to if i want to keep my licence.

saj how bout u? u gonna be changing ur car anytime soon? are u bored of the power yet?

bose sound system aswell, thats it, loved the tinted headlights and tail lights and the sports tailpipe, just thought porsche were having laugh at the price of them. oh yeah managed to get 22inch porsche turbo wheels with black face pirelli p zero tyres for under £1500. not wanting to pay 3.5k for 21inch from porsche can do this but remember u have to take them off everytime u go to the dealers as it voids warranty.

Just used ours (it is mainly my wifes car) to go to Manchester and back. Very nice on the motorway and averaged nearly 40mpg.

Not so enjoyable standing FOR EVER filling it up - £145!!!

Speaking with my OPC it does look like a new engine or both diesels, with the entry car getting a 300 bhp unit. Cosmetic changes to bring the look more into line with the Macan. Some new tech inside.

New engine for both diesels you say? What's happening with the V8...more power to distance it from the gains with the V6?

Sounds nice, I bet the V8 does sound nice

I did go crazy with the options, but keeps me amused and I keep my cars at least 5 years so I get my moneys worth, and at the end always easier to sell

I went through the need more power stage, gone past that now, its plenty quick enough for me, but I would like to improve the sound, next time maybe

When does you car arrive ?

i got it on the 2nd of april, loving the sound of it, shame it cant be bit louder under heavy acceleration. acceleration is addictive. it really is awesome car to
drive.

yeah it is worth it if u keep it for long time, think lot of people want that car all of the nice extra little touches make it stand out against all the other ones out there.

cool, i was enquiring with dms and techart, they can add 80 bhp and they claim 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds. sounds interesting.

how many years u got left? how many miles u done? key question is would you have another one?

Not sure but I think you will struggle with warranty work if you get it mapped, but I am unsure

Mine is coming upto 2 years old and 17K miles, if I had to change today yes I would get another, probably a V8, next time I am unsure, not because of the car but simply by them my daughter will be old enough to get her own car, and not sure I would need a kid carrier, but I do like SUV's, lets see time will tell

Enjoy yours in the best of health
