My missus is a small lady too, hasn't been a problem with the x5, even with a baby in a pram
Surely a sturdy box kept in the boot to be used as required would be cheaper?
Of course it would be cheaper... but that's just missing the point, a bloody low tech box when you can have all that fun from a button Surely a sturdy box kept in the boot to be used as required would be cheaper?

My missus has a sturdy box. Surely a sturdy box kept in the boot to be used as required would be cheaper?
Don't think she would like me standing on it though

Friend of mine has just taken delivery of a new hi-spec Diesel and went out in it last night.
Thought it was absolutely fantastic. Great engine - smooth, powerful and apparently did 34mpg on first tankful.
Loved all the toys. Dynamic headlamps are super at night. Power hatch is a must have. Paddle-shifs also - much better than the switches and great for flicking up and down the box on twisty routes. This one had air/pasm/20"/servotonic and it drives quite unlike any SUV I've ever been in - remarkable balance between luxury and sporting. Like the new PCM and this one had the TV with rear camera - very clever even at night. Whole cabin is very classy and driving position near faultless.
Criticsms? I'm struggling. Particularly love the new looks - much classier.

Is this thread only open to gansters or wannabee gangsters?
I can't think of a more vulgar expression of taste than a Cayenne. It's amller than most estate cars and less capable than many off-roaders.
One post says how the big wheels makes the ride worse and the next post says how they've bought even bigger wheels - no doubt to make their behemoth even more tasteless.
And to think some people mention sport and Cayenne in the same sentence. It's like putting a tracksuit and trainers on Peter Kaye. He's still fat.

Besides the Panamera feels small on the inside the boot is small.
I can't understand why Porsche built it, maybe for the US market?
There were 12m cars sold in China last year, up 30% YoY. There are a large number of rich Chinese. They don't buy small cars like 911s.I can't understand why Porsche built it, maybe for the US market?
SS7
PS In China, only trucks use diesel

Yes, the Touareg (especially the Altitude) is on a massive wait. They actually stopped people from ordering the Altitude for several months (sporty version). Appear to be a lot of frustrated customers!
BTW, I reckon the Touareg works out about 12% cheaper with options than a Cayenne before discounts.

Has anybody tried the Cayenne Diseasal off road??
Had a chance to play with the new RR 4.4 litre Diesel on & off road last week courtesy of Land Rover -OMG and wow, even Mrs Melv was impressed.....
How do they compare with the Merc ML, the interior of which I somehow find lacking in comparison....
I took delivery at the beginning of September. My off road adventures have been limited to snow on mountain passes and back country skiing locations. So far I'd say it's pretty good. By that I mean it will handle slopes of 30-40 degrees and up to about 1m of powder snow (18" winter wheels and Michelin Latitude Alpin M+S rubber).Had a chance to play with the new RR 4.4 litre Diesel on & off road last week courtesy of Land Rover -OMG and wow, even Mrs Melv was impressed.....

In the next couple of weeks I hope to test it on some permafrost and ice in the forest.

I've a V10 RS6 as a daily car, had a look at the Cayenne and whilst the interior looked absolutely superb, the exterior....didn't.
Better than the last model, but still massively compromised on the styling front, with a tiny boot.
And there's the image...mmmmmm
I realise it will be an appeal to RRS man with the Project Kahn't wheels and the ubiquitous private plate, but why consider this over perhaps an RS6 Avant or BMW Estate ?.
The best answer I can give is that it's a very good compromise. Better than the last model, but still massively compromised on the styling front, with a tiny boot.

Our new Cayenne replaced an M5 touring because it offered better winter; snow and ice, performance. I thought quite carefully about an RS6 when ordering the M5, but preferred the free revving V10 to Audi's turbo charged unit. Despite having Quattro the RS6 was as much of a snow plough as the BMW. My neighbor doesn't even put winters on his, preferring to use a Q7 during winter. It might be a finer balance in the UK, but having seen the pictures on the TV this week maybe not!
In the end we came to the conclusion that for us the better compromise was a SUV and sports car rather than an M5 Touring / RS6 Avant.
