Has anyone directly compared the Cayenne to the new Touareg .. particularly the Altitude with spring sports suspension .. or with sports air suspension and electronic damper control??

The VW appears to have the better navigation system, DAB radio and all-round cameras .. something I think is a must for a vehicle of this size!

Passing OPC Nottingham - i popped in to have a look around. Must of been 5or6 Cayenne's hanging around. One of these - a Meteor Grey 'S' had the sports exhaust (4 tail-pipes) - that option deffo needs ticking, they made the rear look awesome. £1400 option apparently. My fave though was a black diesel with black wheels (silver-rim) - lick
I'm guessing all waiting for delivery to customers!
The Meteor with the Sports Exhaust was being delivered today. I think rest were either demo's or customers (in the compound). They had a white car - not too keen, had a tint of cream in it. There's no doubting - Black is the colour to have, although the Meteor suited the shape - probably more so than on any other Porsche model. Silver looks a bit boring. Side-steps and roof rails look good. Leather dash - nice, but pricey, and standard dash looks good enough imo. If i was speccing one up, i think i would have the wheels painted black, with a faint silver rim.

Have you seen this - http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2284304.htm
Saw that earlier. Not the spec I want and I really would want Air with those 21inch wheels.

If you are not going for it do you mind telling me the spec? I may be interested if you are not.

Mmmm, there's a few without it, and as garyhun pointed out - on 21" wheels... it could be worth having. Just wondered if it is *really* essential for road use?

My understanding from listening to owners is that on the standard 18" wheels Air is not required. However I think they say PASM is. When you consider that Air comes with PASM and is "only" (relative term) another £1300 then I think for most people it's a "must have" option. The new Cayenne definitely does not need it like the previous model.

My dealer even said not to spec on standard wheels.

Mmm... no Air suspension again. That's 2 on 21" wheels with no air and both for sale as cancelled orders. I wonder if they really are cancelled or they've been tested and then the penny dropped that you need air with the larger wheels. Aside from that, and the lack of the automatic tailgate (which owners do say is a must), it's a good spec.

I'd just prefer 38 mpg (combined) plus more than enough poke and refinement and pocket the extra £30 odd K that the Turbo costs.

As the saying goes, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" biggrin

I was never considering it BUT everyone who has one says it's a must for some reason. Those that did not tick the option wish they had.

Maybe I'm ghey and never realised wink

Air suspension is must have with 21" ,with out the ride is unbearable. The Elec tail gate is nice but i would not say is a must have. Sports seats totally are must have . Pan roof is also very nice.......Turned down 5k over list today.

Lead times are now into June

The sales chappy (whom left me a voicemail earlier enquiring to my intentions) told me tailgate was a must have. Load of nonsense - I didnt have it on the X5, so see no reason why I'd pay that. Hence why extras were close to £15k.
Decide what you want, not what someone tells you you need. Unless you are of course ghey...

Whilst I agree with what you say I also listen to owners who have experienced the car to ensure I'm not missing something that I may later regret.

As that's the second time you've asked the ghey question I'll assume you're on the Market and looking. Sorry to disappoint you but I'm into girls only tongue out

I wasn't going to order electric tail gate, but after a weekend with a demo car my wife couldn't reach to pull it down and it's very heavy, so went for it.
