As said it may need re-coding back onto the vehicle as an option seen this a couple of times before.

There is no retrofit kit for heated seats, if you retrofit it can the software add in an option that the car was not speced with originally or if there is no retrofit path?
Hello,

Its just an option in a control unit to tell the car it has it available. Just needs activating.

Mike
Ok thanks. I am going to retrofit heated seats to my 996 using all OEM parts. I'll keep that in mind. So by the look of it they won't work without the coding being done?

We have fitted a couple of cars using all OE parts, no coding required as the seats do not have any software control units apart from the relay/switch unit under each seat. It takes its supply from the fuse board in the drivers footwell, the supply is there, it just needs the other side of the fuse holder terminal, the fuse and then the supply wire installing. No coding required, it will just work when installed.

Hope thats of use.

Hi,

Coding only for 997/987 cars that have factory installed heated seats with all original parts.

I just called OPC Leeds to ask them how much to do this and they said it should take less than an hour and it will be £125+VAT robbing bds.
Might be worth a drive over to Knutsford on principle.

Thanks. I have studied the wiring diagram and am trying to find a loom out of a wreck or get one custom made, but then I have to find the right ends. Can I message you a couple of queries?

It will most definately be the coding in the vehicle electrics control unit. It will still shown as installed so needs coding to uninstalled then back again to reactivate. Usually knocks out the headlamp washers aswell so do them at the same time.
