I did exactly this. I traded my Spyder against a 997.2 GT3. I haven't looked back.
I realised the reason I enjoyed the Spyder so much was because it reminded me of a GT3 (bucket seats, responsiveness, steering feel etc). In the end I decided that what I really wanted after-all was another GT3.

I'm thinking of trading my Spyder against a 997.2 gt3 GT3. Although i think the Spyder felt more confidence-inspiring hence some serious b-road pace, whereas the GT3 feels like you have to concentrate a bit more, IYNWIM, but for pure driving pleasure and 'sense of occasion, the GT3 deffo has the edge. Best car i've owned.

mrh1275 said: Is the GT3 more hardcore on the road , bumpy etc ? Yes and yes... I think you can have a fast road-based geo / set-up done on the GT3 which may help / improve? Clutch heaviness can sometimes be a pita in heavy traffic. Bumps / humps / inclines need taking with more consideration. But the pro's far out-weigh the *minor* niggles. 3rd gear pull, speed, and noise is epic. Wet weather grip i found to be better than i expected, and better than the Spyder. Tail wagging is mandatory If you can, do it!

Robbo66 said: JP, Have you driven the 991S ?....how did it compare to the GTS ?. I have mate. Depends on why you like 911s IMHO. If you enjoy the challenge of the rear engined bias, having to trail brake and managing the weight in a 911, then the GTS does that better than a 991 IMHO (and with more feel). If you like to drive fast in comfort, with a far more luxuriously appointed interior, far superior exhaust noise and you're not so bothered about the 911-ness, then the 991s is the better car - having said that I think if you avoid some of the options on the 991, it may be quite a lot better - hard to say without trying it though!

That's my worry...just not having that organic feel would be a disappointment IMO. For me anyhow. In a similar vain to the 997 TT. Can't find a GTS 2 anywhere. The 4 is not an option for me, had a 4 once. Not again.
