Having posted all that "Gung-ho" st about driving rather than polishin, dare I ask whether these later 911's - 996s & 7s - suffer with road salt?

Yes definitely, all the suspension links, crossmembers and engine/transmission cases turn white and powder-like in very short order if the salt isn't jet washed off.

Porsche AG used to apply a wax type coating to everything that was alloy underneath. IIRC they don't anymore.

Thanks, but not from 911 virgin. Bought it from a well known 911 journo. It will feature soon in total911 mag..
