Replacing the fascia for a double din stereo

Hi all

Looking to replace the single din head unit for a double din unit. I don't have sat nav (996 03 plate). Have found some old links in the forums, but not anything within the last couple of years.

I had a av guy around today who coud fit the unit, but i need to find a supplier of an aftermarket fascia that would allow me to place the double din stereo ( looking at a pioneer unit) where the current stereo / air con unit is and then relocate the zircon to the lower centre unit which currently has the multi cd unit and shelf.

Any suggestion, considerations, links and even pics of good examples of the completed article?!

Is it easy for someone with capabilities to move the aircon unit from top to bottom? Anything to look at for?

There is only one place you can get them officially - Porsche Japan! Pioneer double DIN units are an option on Japanese specced cars so they have a fascia for them!

I am trying to source one as we speak (UK OPCs can't get them).

Just realised you've got a 996 - go on the Japan AUC as I think they have one for PCM 1 aswell!

Tino has been a great help. One thing, the connect 2 double din fascia conversion kit is only for models without cupholders.

Anyone found one that is for 996's WITH cupholders???

Were you ever successful in sourcing the Porsche Japan bezel? I've seen the black one on Suncoast but I'm looking for a grey one like the picture above.

Yes basically The ones on Japan are aftermarket bezels that the Porsche dealers outsource when having their satnav units fitted... It is not a Porsche part.

I found and bought one of these Pioneer bezels though which is a perfect color match for my 987:

I believe Pioneer also have bezels for the 996 but you would have try and find them on the website or call your local Pioneer dealer.

Once I found the above I bought it from Car Audio Security on the UK who are a Pioneer dealer and could order the part.
