For all us serial parts (and clothes) buyers - road or MTB!

This month for the Stumpjumper HT:

X0 rear mech (from X9)
XTR front mech (from LX - lasted AGES!)
SRAM 990 cassette
SRAM 991 chain
Spesh Expert Carbon SPD shoes
Yet more brake pads

Recentlyish:

RS SID Race forks (from Fox 90RL - they wore out)
Avid Elixir CRs (from Juicy 5s - they died)

On the way shortly:

Swissstop green pads, new chain and cassette for road bike, just had shock off and serviced by tf tuned on the mountain bike. Stunning service, feels like a new bike.

Most recently in the last fortnight, if I go back over a few months it starts to get scary.

Sunline thick lock-on grips, soo much nicer if you have large hands.

2.1 Schwalbe Smart Sams & Supersonic tubes now the gloop is gone, Wow! in comparison to the 2.4 Mtn Kings & bonti freeride tubes, I think I must have at least halved the weight of tires & tubes on the wheels. The weight was that bad on the 2.4's you could feel the gyro effect in fast corners.

And some Aztec sintered pads for the juicy 3's, oh if anyone wants a deal on them, Lex in Sheffield do 4 pairs(8 pads) for £30!!!

Edit:- Being sad I have just looked up the comparable weights for tires & tubes online

Mth King 2.4 wired = 750g
Bontrager 2.2-2.5 tubes = 220g
Total x 2 wheels = 1940g

Smart Sam 2.1 evo = 495g
Supersonic tubes = 100g
Total x 2 wheels = 1190g

38% saving in weight, it made nearly a 2mph av difference on my normal route.

2x rear mech hangers
1x rear mech
1x chain
1x middle ring
1x fork seal kit
4 pairs of sintered brake pads

And I've just discovered 3mm of lateral movement in the rear wheel that doesn't bode well.

May be new bike time, although the one I have appears to be tiggers broom

Formula caliper mounts x1
Superstar Hollowtech II BB
Charge Spoon Saddle

BB for the enduro, the rest is for a hardtail build that has been taking FOREVER but is now really very really nearly almost finished.

OneD - that's is a hell of a weight saving!

After years of trying all sorts of rubber, I've stuck with Nobby Nic Evos in 1.8" width - very light, great allrounders and seem to last pretty well.

Mac - got a similar Allez Elite (2010 model) and it's definitely a very decent bike for the money.

Wade - got 520s on the road bike - they're decent and brilliant VFM.

Wife has 540s on hers - pretty similar.

I'd read the reviews on these and for twenty quid thought it was worth experimenting. Pleased you feel the same.

These are on my MTB just been out 15 miles or so mixed road and tracks and am very pleased with them. Knee was still a bit sore so wasn't breaking any (of my own) speed records but It certainly felt more efficient.

Only fell off once more when experimenting with emergency stops. Note to self - twist outwards always on drive side!!!getmecoat

Some new Superstar floating rotors heading my way at the moment - upgrading to a 180mm rotor on the front. Plus they're a bit bling too, which isn't a bad thing hehe
