I expect prices to hold as the 991 turbo comes out, due to a positive sentiment towards 911 turbo.

They'll then start to decline as the 997 won't be 'the current turbo'.

It'll be gentle as early 997 will be snapped up by those coming from a 996 turbo, those that didn't like the 996 turbo and those who want the last of the Metzger engined cars!

I am going to say that is never going to happen.

Seriously.

3-4 years away the 7.1 will be very close IMHO.

Agree, nearer to 3 years I'd guess.

Got offered a high mile 997t manual for £28k a couple of weeks back, would have had it but had no space for it.
How high mileage?

Well, I'm pretty sure they will continue to fall as most of the experts on here don't seem to rate them.

Having done a 190 mile tour of North Wales in mine this weekend with another car club (not including 180 mile trip there and back), I'm still in awe of this cars abilities....

o It cruises effortlessly and comfortably with ability to overtake in the blink of an eye if required
o Can keep with much lighter / much more nimble machinery through the twistiest of twisties
o Can go as fast as you dare on the straights
o Returns 18 mpg.....ok, forget that one !
o Sounds awesome (from the outside so I'm regularly informed)
o With manual sports-shift, feels very involving / analogue to drive
o Yet again, I didn't damage the front splitter (and didn't back off over the humps so as to preserve it)

So come on guys....what's not to like really !

Hopefully one day people will realise these are a classic in the making (then I can sell mine for good money and buy a 997.2 GT3) biggrin

The 996 didn't, I was looking at them a few years ago and they were all around 40k, with 35ish being for the high milage, not very nice spec etc. Then they seemed to go into a fairly quick decline, which might have been to do with the general economic situation, but none the less you can pick a very nice car up now for around 25k.

I think they get to around 10 years old then the extended warranties start to get very expensive/ unobtainable so they start losing appeal to a fair few would be buyers.

i think thats the key as soon as they fall out of the OPC warranty range they take another dive price wise

Really not sure that's the case. The classifieds are full of them. That's not going to keep prices firm as the model ages.

The lights if nothing else will make demand higher and think will not go down as fast as 996. Hope it does though;)

Car was generally quite well received I thought, brakes and handling and VTG main improvements.

Wow! Looks great value if it all checks out, interesting colour as well. I should think there is an extra 0 missing off the milage for that price though?
