The catch is that it's too expensive for what people are willing to pay for. It has been on sale for 13 days.

Other car is up in Glasgow and been on sale for 7 days.

I have no idea if these examples are good, bad or ugly, but this is hardly a long timescale to complete a private sale. It can easily take a couple of weeks to go through a private sale ie. get in touch with the seller, arrange a suitable viewing appointment, perhaps an inspection, a final bit of negotiation etc. When it's been for sale for a month or more then it's too expensive or somethings wrong with it.

Does it. Really ?

I sold a vehicle Sunday, to an advert placed Saturday evening. The buyer phoned up a 4.30pm, came to look at 6pm, and at 6.30pm I have a bag full of money in my possession.

Bag full of cash on a Sunday evening, brave move. I hope Monday early morning wasnt spent tied to a chair or a little later on weeping in the bank with your bag full of fake £20's ?

It can happen very quickly if you have a popular/desirable car in the right spec condition that is priced fairly, it only takes one person that has been looking for a particular car for a while and when yours pops up they will be off the mark very quickly so not to miss out. On the other hand I agree you should give these types of cars at least a month or two before dropping prices dramatically.

They deleted my post as well!

I thought you'd complained because I'd said this car (which isn't mine)would sell quicker if it was £40k. biggrin
no mate I never report anyones posts here, but tbh I can't see the value in deleting it......I really can't be bothered posting now!!

and my car is the glasgow car I take it.

I think the location doesn't work well for me, but it will sell. I have a solid overseas buyer getting it checked over this week.

It is all well and good pricing your car at XXX but if it hasn't sold in 2 weeks people are not willing to pay for it. And the fact that it is October and people are waiting for Jan/ Feb buys...

Koing
So this car isn't cheap then, sorry I thought for an 08 car it was for nothing.( Assuming it is as advertised)

Sold my 997TT last week after nearly a months advertising.

The car was mint, low mileage and in a desirable spec, and it wasn't expensive compared to all others on the market, in fact it was a bloody bargain !

The market is slow, very slow for expensive cars at the moment, wrong time of year, the economic situation, or should I say, all the scaremongering on the tv and in the papers stopping people spending what they would normally !

Unless it's cheap and a relative good buy, be prepared to do some serious discounting because they certainly ain't going up in value ! wink

LOL...no....but he said he had all the 1p and 2ps that fell down the drains..........

Anyway I have sold 2 cars now to international buyers....it's more like our currency is on it's arse so why wouldn't they!!

anyway not concluded sale but he is keen so it's getting inspected at the weekend I think.

I know people say they are not in a hurry to sell, but I'm genuinely not, I could easily afford to keep the car as my new car is just a runner for winter.

Good luck. If it doesn't sell I'm happy to head 'north of the border' to have a look when it gets to £40k biggrin

Looks lovely... but is it £20-ishk better than my 76k 03'996TT. Virtualy identical colour and spec, so it is exactly the upgrade I want to slip into... but it's a big financial jump!
