It's quite possible that the previous owner grouded the front spoiler and perhaps got tired of replacing it with the proper painted item, and so just fitted the boggo/standard lip. Cheers Mate I appreciate the reply, I did have a quick look on google pics to see and have to admit the painted item looks so much better. I have written to the OPC where I purchased the car from to see if they will put the OE painted item on as an act of good faith but not holding my breath. The more I look at it the more it does look out of place.

At high speed your front end will be very very light due to the additional downforce the fixed rear spoiler generates which could be dangerous. Very cheapo of the OPC not to put the proper spoiler on.

He has got the splitter - it just isn't painted?
I wouldn't bother if I was you - the black one looks ok when scuffed, whereas the painted one will look awful.

He has the standard lip; the Aerokit lip is more formed/curved across the front face, whereas the std lip is practically vertical. (similar with 996 C4S, turbo and aerokit lips - takes a geek to spot the difference ) I'd suggest the chap gets it changed - aside from looking much better, Porsche themselves bang on about how front lip and rear spoiler MUST only ever be fitted together so they can't really argue!!

Gents
Thank you all for your updates and responses and moreso apologies for going off topic, that's the last thing I wanted as a newbie to this forum but nonetheless as forums go I have learnt some very useful information from you guys and I appreciate it.
I wrote to the OPC who have agreed to paint it (the one that is fitted) but given the most recent update I shall write directly to Porsche to ask about which splitter should infact be fited to this vehicle as it is only fair that it should be the right one for the current fitted aerokit to work at its best.
Kind regards
to you all r1

Quite right. Suggest you use their own literature to support your position: This refers to the 996 (but I'm sure a bit of hunting could find you the same for the 997) " ....For reasons of safety, the distinctive rear lid and spoiler unit must be fitted in conjunction with the matching front lip spoiler." LinkETA a link reffering specifically to 997

not the best picture ever taken, but it sort of highlights the just refurbed wheels some would say poverty spec, I would say pure... I am going to move it on sometime soon for something else. I look at all sorts, but its hard to imagine life without a 911 now.

It's gone to a nice man down London way, the old 930 there got a nice super charger tucked under the bonnet.
