I have just been looking at variant Tuscan info on line and found this chart:

3.6L Mk1: 350 BHP, 290 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1: 360 hp, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 Red Rose: 380 BHP, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 S (pre-2003): 390 BHP, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk1 S (post-2003): 400 BHP, 315 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 (post-2005): 380 hp, 310 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 S (post-2005): 400 BHP, 315 ft.lbf
4.0L Mk2 Convertible (post-2005): 380 hp, 310 ft.lbf

Is this missing (3.6L Mk2 S (post-2005): 400 BHP??????/)or is it only a 4L s mark 2

So what's the definitive?
They did make a 3.6S?
I only ask as I am very close to buying a tidy Tuscan 2 S.
Don't want to get a pretender.

Thanks

This one. DVLA register 3.6 ltr
http://mobile.pistonheads.com/sales/2794262.htm
Is the S only trim or engine upgrade?
Or a true S a 4 ltr instead of 3.6?
Brain ache

A true S is a 4L I believe but I'm not really an MK2 specialist frown

there are no 3.6L 'S' in either Mk1 or 2. The S only came as 4.0L with more output than the standard 4.0L and obviously 3.6L. The 'S' should have a C/R gearbox, different diff, although not fitted to all, but will have larger brakes, air con as standard, DAB radio, gas discharge main beam, and front winglets, can't think of anything else off the top of my head, hope that answers your question

Edited to say see here http://www.mytuscan.co.uk/tuscan.php#tuscan1s what is listed for the Mk1 'S' carries over to the Mk2 also.

Looks like a DVLA balks up on the log book.
Quote"so I phoned dom at Tvr power and he said if the ecu chip had tuscan s stamped on it (which it did) and if it had a single fuel injector (which it did) then it was a 4lt."
I have the email correspondence and photos of the car at tvr power etc.
the dvla have changed the log book.
Opinions anyone?

the car is 100% a 4.0 litre 's' i knew the previous owner, a lawyer who worked in my home town, the car was registered incorrectly as a 3.6 and he never got round to changing it, TVR and the DVLA contrived to make this mistake many times both with the engine size and the tax class, i've seen threads on here quite a few times previously about this, the car has all the sports pack (S) options and it is i'm ashamed to say slightly quicker than mine, if Dom at tvr power has confirmed its an 's' and the dvla are rectifying the clerical error what are you worried about......???

i think the reason you have had no replies to your "opinions anyone?" question is that you answered the questions yourself, it was an open and shut case! i will be glad if you take it down south as it will mean i have the quickest tuscan 's' in fife at last haha

Thought I'd resurrect this to see if I can get a definitive answer... For a Tuscan convertible, 2006 build.. The original order form states it's a Tuscan Converibe and has the "Sports Pack" listed as being ordered.

Is this how the "S" models were ordered? And what were the official contents of the Sports Pack?

I've found the pictures of the price list somewhere but it's still not entirely clear?

2006 models if ordered with the sports pack consisted of the following as standard:-

385 BHP engine
Close ratio gearbox
Larger front and rear breaks
Up-rated suspension
Hid main beam lights
Air conditioning
18 inch wheels with 255/35 tyres
Large bore exhaust
Front winglets
Tuscan S badge

Think that's about it for the 10k extra, although some only paid 2.5k , but did not get all of the above.

Ok great stuff so it sounds like the Sports Pack is what makes it an S model then.

I went to see the 07 reg one (£50k) in the classifieds today with a possible view to changing from my mk2 S but there's a few bits I wasn't happy with but at least this has resolved one of them!
