Yes it is high, but only the odometer reading, i'd bet that most of the parts which would need replacing have been replaced.
Mine has got (afaik) original diff and box still. They feel good to me and have been told they are still good. The boxes on these are very good strong boxes. I think bushes have been changed as they are all good with no play, i have changed lots and lots of random parts, not so much because they were damaged but because i like shiny things
Its a tough one because that car is 13.5k or so. but it comes with a few miles.
You could buy one with a quarter of the miles for maybe 3k more BUT it won't have had a quarter of the parts changed meaning potential big bills ahead so its almost horses for courses really. Thats the way i look at mine.
You could buy a 'mint' car for 16k then need clutch, engine rebuild, suspension and you've done 8k straight away, thats before all the random things which add up to another chunk.
The more I drive my Mk.1 and the more I read on here of Speed 6 woes and electrical gremlins, the more I convince myself that the above is true!! The later cars have the material and design mods to the engine. Without doubbt this improved the engine no end. The Tuscan is seen as a bad buy with miles on it - yet you can see Sags (at STR8 Six and Fernies with + 40K miles) fetching more than £30-£35K.Mine has got (afaik) original diff and box still. They are meant to be driven - use them. As M3 says, most of the usual items will have been replaced on a 60K miler.....at least at those miles, it says that it has spent more time on the road than in a repair garage!!!

str8 6 have one with 61k on it and its not much cheaper than one with half the miles (i know they have a couple for over 50k but they really have next to no miles and look pristine, more of a collectors car i think).
I read a comment in the sag forum the other day where a bloke had tracked t350 prices and mileages and around 4 years ago they were for example 25k and had an average of 25k miles. now they are 20k with an average of 20k miles....funny that as they get older the mileages go down
i suppose 98k for a 11 year old car like this is high really as its about 4-5k a year more than whats considered average.
From what i gather average miles would be along the lines of:
Daily driven cars (any marque) 10-12k per annum
weekend cars (any marque) 5-6k per annum
collectors/investment cars -2k per annum.
I was in a simialr boat to yourself a few weeks ago, ended up getting a 65k miler. The car ended up being around 5k cheaper than a lower millage example but pretty much all the niggles had been sorted with engine, diff and box rebuilds. Go for it turn the screen off the odomoter and enjoy it, by the last week weather wise its gonna be a brill summer
Very nice, DjDan - enjoying it?
It really isn't an obvious play this, chaps. The thing is I have seen a couple here and there pop up a month or so ago, which were definitely 'bargains' compared to the offerings I have here - these other cars were inside warranty period on engines, looked straight, and were circa 14 or so - which is no-brainer money. If I could find the right colour and that sort of 'warranty' I think it would be a good buy.... 100K is a lot more than 60K, and it's not with a full warranty that halcyon car anyway, it may be negotiable though.
I'll keep my ears to the ground - but if you fellows hear of any funky coloured monster deals pinging up, please let me know

Was that the one advertised on pistonheads? Certainly looked very nice in the pictures!Mine has 55k miles, and all it gets are positive comments. With a higher mileage car you know it has been reliable enough for the owners to have confidence to use it. That was a conscious element to my decision. I could have spent more, I had the budget to, but got my car and had a nice holiday as a bonus.
Mine made it to 42k miles before a rebuild, and I do wonder if it went that far because it was used often.
Even so the average mileage is only 4583pa, which is nothing. The really low mileage cars must spend most of their time sitting around whilst seals dry out, rubber loses its flexibility etc.
I have put 7k miles on it this year and I intend to keep using it.

Stu, regarding the colour...
I was told too that the Chameleon Blue would be impossible to touch up. When I had to have the boot repainted due to someone putting a scratch in it, the paint shop guy said it was one of the easiest colours ever, as he didn't have to match the paint (changes colour anyway).
So I'm tempted to say if you like Reflex/Cascace/Chameleon colours, just go for it

What bodyshop was this? I'm looking to get a repair done on a spectraflair paint job and that is contrary to info provided thus far (and potentially wallet friendly).
Cheers Andrew

Hey Stu,
W675 SBL in Atlantis Halcyon Blue ..... I was the last, very devoted, owner.
It was festidiously maintained for the 4 years I owned her. I was responsible for the mileage and took it from 32k to the now recorded. If you want to PM me I can give you the low down on the history if it helps. It has indeed not had anything spared and a great deal replaced over time...it most recently had a Red Rose engine, I had a new Gbox at about 85k, brakes, suspension etc all upgraded. In all honesty, the chassis is probably about the only heavy item that has not been lovingly replaced but that was sound and waxoiled when needed. All the work was done by Dom at TVR Power.
It is an absolutely sorted Mk1 and had a fresh paint job about 24months ago...
