Just been for my MOT and the bl**dy horn isn't working so it has failed. I had a late MOT, 5pm so he couldn't get to the bottom of it then so I left it and walked home. He did ascertain that the relay works when the horn is pushed so I am assuming that it isn't the fuse, is that correct? Any ideas?
Are there two horns, one on each side of the radiator or just the one, we found one on the offside?

One other thing is that the exhaust is blowing...only an advisory. The tester thought it was from both the manifild gasket and the cat flange. Am I right in thinking that the speed six doesn't have manifold gaskets but use high temp rtv? Can I just unbolt the gaskets and use the rtv and fill the area round the flange to?

No gaskets. Cats should be pushed firmly against exhaust manifold when mounting the clamps. That must be sufficient.
Not that it's more difficult with the exhaust mounted at the other side of the cat.
Mine leaked at the weldings at the heat shields, they came loose en left a tiny hole in the cat housing. Rewelded them.

Normally the connections on the horn, bit of WD40 and the job is a good one. Under the grill.

or it could be the switch itself which isnt terribly well designed, i put in a separate -ve wire to the steering hub rather than rely on the spring wire.

Thanks guys, all sorted and MOT passed...pheeew!!
Two new horns fitted for £20.
Car booked in to Andy at APM to look at the blowing exhaust and a little bit of fibreglass repair on the grille at C&S Coachworks. March tends to be an expensive month carwise....hohum! biggrin

Any feedback on the C&S fibreglass repair would be much appreciated.

No problems at all. I would use them again for fibreglass and paint.
