This may help too.

I bought what i thought to be the bosch equivalent upgraded version (albeit a generic brand) from my local motor factors for £90, and it appears to be genuine bosch - both starter and solenoid are branded bosch. Good result as far i can tell!

I fitted it in two evenings, and apart from what i think maybe a short i have cuased not being careful enough when putting it all back together, it was fairly straighforward.

What problems do you have with the current one?

Sorry i meant to include a link to the other thread and now on my mobile so cant. If u google tuscan starting problems and the part no is 0001110041 bosch. I fitted mind two days ago and it fitted well with the few tweaks that u will find on the other threads.have yet to see whether its better with regard to hot starts. . .

Thanks! I've had a quick Google and have found one eBayer with a listing (I don't need one, just want to know the part number etc for if and when I do need one). He gives the fitment as:

BMW 530i 3.0 E34 88-91
BMW 535i 3.5 E34 88-93
BMW 730i 3.0 E32 87-94
BMW 735i 3.5 E32 87-94
BMW M5 3.5 E34 88-95
BMW M5 3.8 E34 92-95

Bosch 0001110028
Bosch 0001110041

this is the original if u would prefer to stick with it. The part listed above has more power by about 25% and i was pleased to get bosch for £90. . .

Very happy to say that my the new starter has solved the hot start problems, turns over quicker and catches quicker than it ever did on the old starter...hot or cold...i don’t approach the car with a ‘wll it wont it’ feeling now, what a relief!!
