the gator on the drivers side steering rack has gained a little nick and is leaking

would love it to be a simple answer of easy you just replace the gator and can be bought here but expecting its not that simple?

If it is a small leak go try some stop leak fluid from halfords. It swells the seals slightly.

My car would shoot its power steering fluid out in about 2 minutes. Adding the stop leak stuff caused it to become a drip and therefore drivable to the garage.

ahhh,
it didn't piss out was just a obvious leak,
i bought the leak stop from halfords and decided that i best find the source of the leak first
and once found wasnt too keen on putting it through the system

so im guessing with it just being a protection gator the seal has gone? and is gonna be exspensive?

The rack will most likely need refurbishing which involves a fair bit of labour, although I did hear that someone had had the end seal replaced in situ. The cost of a refurb is about £220-£300 dependent on where you go.

I'd definitely give the stop leak fluid a ago. Only thing it does is swell up the rubber seals which shrink a bit over time.

Not quite the same as your leak, but this was my adventure with my steering rack

I have the same issue, i bought the lucas fluid and it made a torrent into a small drip. Going to wait untill the summer (laughs) is over before i rip it apart and take the rack out. Might do a how to thread as there is a lack of one avaliable. Seems a very common issue.
