Coolant tank Cap VW Part Number

Does anyone know what the VW part number for the coolant tank cap is?

I bought one of these and have just fitted it. Seems to fit fine although I haven't driven the car with it fitted yet.

Don't worry too much about a part number.

The main thing is to get a genuine VAG item. I've had experience with pattern parts and they've failed within ~ 1000 mls.

So, go to your local VW dealership and ask for a cap to fit a Golf Mk.2 - simples.

I went back to a TVR one after a couple of duff pattern parts from the factors. One actually had the VW marks.

I paid a premium for one from a certain TVR parts supplier and it didn't fit as the threads were different. Ended up chucking it away as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of returning.

Think its from VW beetle which is probably why there so hard to get hold of now

Just wondered, as I seem to remember mk2 golfs having two different styles of cap. I might be having a flash back to the under bonnet of a mk3.

VW old style Part number is 443121321 (confirmed with vw). It was fitted to the mk2 until 1989, until they went to the wider style cap.

That's the one!
Definitely a Golf Mk2, and apparently some Seat models. It was a Seat dealership in France where I got my current cap.
Pattern parts are rubbish, either wrong thread, as above, or poor quality control and the HP valve fails in a short time allowing coolant to dump when hot.
