Coolant tank Cap VW Part Number
Discussion
I bought one of these and have just fitted it. Seems to fit fine although I haven't driven the car with it fitted yet.

Does anyone know what the VW part number for the coolant tank cap is?
Don't worry too much about a part number. The main thing is to get a genuine VAG item. I've had experience with pattern parts and they've failed within ~ 1000 mls.
So, go to your local VW dealership and ask for a cap to fit a Golf Mk.2 - simples.

VW old style Part number is 443121321 (confirmed with vw). It was fitted to the mk2 until 1989, until they went to the wider style cap.
That's the one!Definitely a Golf Mk2, and apparently some Seat models. It was a Seat dealership in France where I got my current cap.
Pattern parts are rubbish, either wrong thread, as above, or poor quality control and the HP valve fails in a short time allowing coolant to dump when hot.
