Advantages - Louder, Bigger more explosive backfires, More power if chipped for it, Gearbox doesnt burn your leg.

Disadvantages - Car stinks, Some say its too raspy, Its a bugger taking them off and back on for the MOT

Needless to say i run decat!

Mines decat with a decat chip from Dom complimented by Powertech cans and very shouty she is.
Sometimes I think of going quiet again and going all subtle but she runs so nice without.

Also it cuts down the chassis coating and paint damage from the cats.

Has anyone used under bonnet heatshielding to prevent the heat damage?

Mine was mapped decatted, so if I put the cats back in it might kill them very quickly and reduce power. But I do find it too raspy without!

yeah ive got the crazing but before I get the bonnet resprayed I'd like to protect it without shiftin the heat further down the exhaust.

Fabricate some form of heatshield for above the manifold?

Thats effectively what the heat blanket on the underside of the bonnet will achieve with less heat radiation. But according Wong this isnt that effective either..
