Ok it's a 2000 model Tuscan and has been a static exhibit at my house since November. For various reasons, gear lever came off, gearbox out required to fix, may as well do the clutch as well, starter motor has packed up (believe solenoid is stuck), speedo intermittent, I have held off until the Spring to get it fixed. Went to try and sort out the starter issue today and.......nothing, no fuel pump, no flashing red immobiliser light, nothing.

Looks like the immobiliser is out to lunch as well now!. Any quick fixes before I put a match to it and claim the insurance?

Mine did this after a flat battery.
I charged it and had power for lights and doors but it would not let me prime the pump and turn the starter.
I disconnected the battery ( simple 1 hour job on a Tuscan !)
left it off for 5 mins reconnected and hey presto alarm armed and disarmed and starter and fuel pump worked.

Thanks I will give that a go. Mine is fitted with a battery isolator switch so it is a quick check but may have to wait until tomorrow as the last time I threw the switch the alarm went off for a extended period. Don't think the neighbours would be impressed on a Sunday evening!

Ok I have had the battery isolator off for 15 minutes and still no luck. The red LED on the immobiliser socket is not illuminated, let alone flashing. The alarm and door lock/unlock is still working. Battery is indicating 12.6 volts and does not alter when the ignition is turned to start so I guess the immobiliser is still on. Fuse 27 (alarm, immobiliser IGN, supply) is ok. No fuel pump running either. Fuse 34 (fuel pump) looks ok.

Anywhere else to check?

The car has been off road since November and on a battery conditioner all that time.

Well here we are in April and the car is still a static exhibit. To add to the problems the MoT is now due as well!

I have tried just about everything to clear the immobiliser issue, battery isolated for 15 minutes, then back on with the key fob pressed, fuses out and in. Today I went pot holing in the footwell and having removed the kick plate and a side panel I finally got to a box called MT36. Unplugged it and gave it a stern talking to and reconnected it. Still nothing,no flashing red light, no fuel pump, nothing.

Tried the little stick thing in the socket, nothing.

So I am guessing the the immobiliser has gone to the great electronics scrapyard in the sky unless someone here knows differently. Are they repairable?

Carl Baker is the usual guru mentioned in threads like this but not sure of any contact details sorry, might be worth a search though.

Carl is your man, http://www.tvruk.tv/ but I am sure he spends most of his time in France now, and comes back to England every so often, I think he does know someone else over here. So def worth a phone call to him

There's also Paul Smith, http://pselectronicsolutions.co.uk/

Pretty sure he can repair it, but failing that he would defo be able to get you going. Mine did exactly the same thing & he helped me to bypass it as an emergency measure as I needed to take the car somewhere.

Very knowledgeable, repaired my heater ECU and also will be getting my dash pod before long!!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Having done some searching on the internet it seems that the M36T2 immobiliser can still be purchased but the current M99 alarm will not pair with a new one. So it would mean using the plastic stick to disarm the immobiliser every time the car was started. Bit of a faff but not a deal breaker. May speak to your suggested contacts about the old one being repairable.

To bring this thread up to date, I dealt with Dave Faiclough, good guy to do business with. The immobiliser was knackered so he supplied a new one and paired it to the alarm to keep things simple. Now to find the starter motor as that has decided not to work but does draw power when the key is turned....
