Guys Dave the trimmer has come up with a simple solution to this problem and it works a treat.
I'd be happy to share by phone as it's a bit awkward to explain and now mine is securely fixed I don't want the strip it to take photos.

The saga continues! Car returned after awesome job servicing by srt8six - running like a dream and leaks fixed =)

mdf speaker rings now fibreglassed into lower door panels!



Next steps - accoustic foam lining then the alcantara on top. Install dynamat on outer doors.
Install speakers!

Doors now lined with alcantara, new foam and fitted back in!

Those door pods look amazing, but the top trim off the later cars would finish the doors off. Surely you can get that from one of the breakers?

Thank you! - cheers for the idea but I prefer the more spacious/less busy look that the old style panels have!
