I've recently had mine put back to standard ride height as part of a suspension tuning day. The chap showed me from underneath how much travel there was at the rear with no weight, then with driver, then with tank of fuel and some stuff in the boot. Bugger all essentially. Hitting the bump stops over minor undulations doesn't do much for the handling!

I don't want to be a show stopper, but "best performance" and "very very low cars" should not be wrtten in one context, no offence David. You basicaly need all the suspension travel you can get, like Richie said. So it's either low or performing good. You basically have to go for a compromise, i guess.
I upped my suspension to a good amount to get a better ride feeling (3 fingers between wheel and wheel arch). Viewing from the side the ride does not look awkward in my eyes. Not entirely satisfied, however. Maybe i have to further up the suspension, fiddle with the damping hardness and maybe get new springs. With very thin rubber around those 18inch rims and high wall stiffness (load rating) the tyres do not really add to a good ride feel.

Standard ride height setting it is then.

What about damper settings?
Depends on your coil-overs. You basically turn them to full soft and check how many clicks you have till full hard setting. You always count from full soft then. Like 8 or 10 clicks. I would begin with a 50:50 setting, perhaps and then work my way either to the hard settings or soft settings. Drive a few miles in between, each time the same (favourite) stretch of road at best and tweak until (hopefully) satisfactory.

If you look around the forums, there are various settings posted for racing reds, nitrons or gaz. But in the end you maybe have to "develop" your own setup.

Thinking of putting mine back to standard damper, spring rates, and moving the rack back to factory yr 2000 settings, maybe reduce the front track a little

I thought a 2000 car had Harvey Bailey springs and dampers ?

Whatttt aren't you running nitrons.

I tried the racing green demonstrator. And the AST suspension developed for tvr is very very good. It felt like a normal car even pottering around. But having witnessed tag 11 I know it goes like st of a shovel.

I agree mate. Performance over looks every day of the week. Many dealers lowered the car to make them look better. Many of the issues relating to handling have got to be down to this, and the fact owners prefer aesthetics and garages that don't advise them otherwise. "Lower it so it looks good", well the result is? The suspension has limited travel etc. I much prefer a car that can tackle an A road and a B road safely, at speed, with absolute confidence. If you get adjustable shocks, a slight tweak can be made to alter the stiffness if needed.
