I have a receipt (from a previous owner) for a decat but no menion of a chip change so no idea.
How can you tell?

I do. It makes a bit of a difference on mid range but not much really. It still can't get through an MOT without cats back in.

I ran defatted without a decaf chip for about 1 year. Suffered from some misfiring issues and was advised to get the decaf chip.
Made no difference and problem turned out to be the coil pack.
Once it was fixed it was too late for me to make a comparison.

I have had my 4 litre Tuscan 2, de catted from the start, along with the pipes sleeved. Never had the chip, so can not comment.
Have always in the past, put the cats back in for the MOT, but the garage forgot this time , to put them back, and put it through.... it passed smile, even the mechanic was surprised.
