Windscreen washer fuse
Discussion
Hi all, the windscreen washer has packed up - no pump noise when using the stalk although the wipers work, so the stalk switch is OK.
Couldn't find the fuse for the washers in the fusebox diagram - I assume that there has to be one. Can anyone enlighten me before I remove the bonnet, access cover and enter the pit of doom.
Thx

No...I too have looked in the handbook and nothing obvious re: which fuse protects the circuit.
Maybe covered by something at the front of the car? Rad' fans main/dip beam lights - even the side lights...Think these (Side light fuse) are 7.5 amps - which for a (2 x)5W lamp is ample. The more I think about it this makes sense. 7.5a X 12V = 90 watts, so my money would be on this! Of course I may be wide of the mark!!!

I think it could be bonnet off time if Nicks suggestion is wrong, at least turning the side lights to on to test is easier than scrabbling around on your back!
I would have thought the washers would work off the same fuse as the wipers which would mean a knackered pump if the wipers are still wiping.
eta the only other bit of electrics I can think of that wouldnt have a large current draw would be the horn, another easy one to check if they share the same fuse.

John's comments make a lot of sense too...both related to windscreen clearance !I would have thought the washers would work off the same fuse as the wipers which would mean a knackered pump if the wipers are still wiping.

The fault was the pump seized and the bottle full of sludge in the bottom. New pump, cleaned the bottle, all working. Didn't find the fuse (ran out of time).

Well done. The other thing that can cause non-delivery of washer fluid is a failed NRV, which is located just after pump discharge. The one on my Tuscan actually split - pump was whirring but no water to jets. It was spewing out onto the road. I found a generic NRV, easily bought from a motor factors, just did the job fine.J
Fuse....well that's a conundrum. Got me thinking though!! LOL.!
