tuscan at Sterling

I assume you are looking at the Grey Tuscan Mk1. I've not seen the car in the flesh but it came up for sale on Ebay for offers around £10k-£11k in January this year. I was going to travel to see it but it sold quickly. Seller told me it needed paintwork sorting out, alloys refurbed and new tyres but it did have recent work including Gaz shocks. No mention of service history or a rebuild though. The car then appeared at a dealer called Town and Country for £17,995 and remained for sale for a while, now at Sterling at £18,925. I believe it is Zirrus Grey, reg X893WVK.
Cars built before about 2004 (correct me, someone, if I am wrong - I own a Chimaera!!) had the original design of speed six engine. The design wasn't perfect, and cheap components were used on many of the engines. The resulting engine failures are well documented.
TVR Power and Racing Green (to name two) have developed revised engines and engine rebuilds that they warrant and that don't have the original problems. So if the car has had one of these re-builds, or been upgraded to the Power 4.3 or 4.5, then it will be fine. If it hasn't it may also be fine, but it is a £10,000 risk that a lot of people don't want to take. Later re-builds are worth more than early rebuilds.
Before buying a Tuscan, or any early Speed Six car, you need to use the search on here and do some serious reading.
