hello all

just wondering if anyone might have some tips on securing the gear change light cowling/steering column cowl to the back of speedo, mines come a drift but doesn't really seem like its attached by any more than a wing or prayer!

Use various cable ties on the bottom one, securing it to the metal frame behind. You need to get creative here, but it's not hard to do.

The top one then sits on top of the secured lower cowling quite nicely, without the need for glue.

yep thought this might be the way, did think about fabricating some brackets for the top piece which seems to be the worst culprit

I had some leather left over from some retrimming so I made a small wedge and covered it with the leather. This now sits between the upper cowling and the metal bar running the width of the car. It will only work if you don't need to adjust the steering wheel position. I don't as only I drive it. It actually holds it in place very well and is not noticeable, it also allows access without having to re glue.

On mine, the bottom one has two screws underneath where there are 2 holes. This connect it to the metal framework around the speedo,

Bottom half is fine with 2 screws but could do with same on top half. looks like its a glue and hope job then smash

There's no way that approach would have worked on mine, as the fit was way off. I tried a few ways, non of which were any good, so reverted to glue. It helps that it's now carbon as I used black flexible sealant and it blends in pretty well.
