OK. Could be the flow & return to the heater matrix (the pipes are pretty obvious)...or the matrix itself can fail...mine did. The matrix is located within the BLACK grp/plastic hump nearest the engine on the nearside under scuttle panel.
There should be 2 drain line exiting the car in the battery box area. One drains condensate from the aircon matrix (OUTBOARD Black plastic hump under scuttle panel)...but if you haven't got a/c then you have nothing to drain! The 2nd drain line drains any moisture collecting in the heater flapper valve stepper motor well, under the heater matrix. Water does accumulate here - particularly in wet road conditions...so maybe your 'leak' is this compartment draining out?
So - my first check would be the flow/return to the heater matrix, and the matrix itself. Can't think of any other coolant piping "in battery box area". The only other coolant item would be the oil cooler - but that is quite well forward of battery box.

Where did you get a new Matrix from and how much was it. Does it come with the black caseing? The 2 pipes look ok to itThere should be 2 drain line exiting the car in the battery box area.
