Fixed that, & then on my way home tonight the service bonnet decided it didn't like the car any more & flipped up, flew in the air, destroyed itself & laid in the opposite lane for a laugh. Also took 2 big chunks out of my bonnet for good measure on its way out.
Given its got two hinges at the bottom, 2 catches at the sides and the centre lock ... How did it come off ?

Do you think the lower hinges had got cracked in some way ? I say that cos when I first got mine , that's exactly what I did when opening it a little too far.

Hope you get it sorted ok.

Just seen this. I had a similar issue, although mine involved wet grass and a tyre wall smile

Service bonnet front edge damaged and broken off at the hinges and the cheesegrater was beyond help. I had a bodyshop who were experienced in fibreglass do the repairs and they tried replacement panels but the fit wasn't good, and would have taken a lot of fettling. In the end it was better to repair the existing panel, refixing the hinge posts.

Good luck with the repairs

Not 100% sure but it appears that the near side front hinge has given up & the wind got under it somehow & just ripped it off. I scensoredt myself though I can tell you that much!! I have to just sit & wait now though for another week or so before proceedings can get underway!

I do need to start looking at colours though just in case. I'd love to stick with a flip flop but I imagine that won't happen given the prices. So here's what I've been looking at so far:

My absolute favourite so far is this but is not going to happen:

Any opinions/suggestions welcome!

Why shouldn't it be returned to the original colour? The fact that the paint is expensive should not be your concern should it?
That's what you were paying the insurance co for Shirley?

Apparently that bottom pic of the tuscan is reflex charcoal. Just for some reason doesn't look it.

Only going on the few quotes I've had, I fear that if I were to push for the flip paint then the cost would force them to write it off? Depending what they offered me then I could end up slightly better off that way. However having bought it as a glorified green house & then going through hell & near financial ruin to resurrect it again, all the things I've done, places I've been in it & all the people I've met through having this car, I would be heartbroken to see it go to become worm food having once been very close to that point only a couple of years before now!

May sound a bit childish speaking this way, I don't know how else to explain it but it's not just a weekend toy for me. & even though it might be a bit of an ugly duckling this car is a lifetimes ambition realised for me & I love it to bits (which is just as well, as I've replaced nearly all of em) & I'm not willing to risk them taking it away from me!!

Last I checked TVR official flip paint isn't as expensive as it used to be (think it was £450 a litre at some point - whole car is about 5 litres) - I think I heard it was nearer to half that now. You can get non official TVR colour flip paint much cheaper than that also - so you don't have to go non flip paint to save money - choose what you want.

Even if it were written off, couldn't you buy it back and use the difference to have the repairs and respray?

Love the orange cobra colour!
