After 5 almost trouble free years of ownership I have had a year of electrical issues -

  • electric mirrors randomly adjusting
  • heater fan control stopped working
  • cigar lighter stopped working
  • driver electric window
  • passenger door randomly opening
Every issue I have had resolved. And now the day I got the car back from the garage after 5 weeks the boot won't open. With every visit costing around £400 I need to find a cheaper specialist to fix my latest electrical issue. Its not just the financial cost but the time the car has been in the garage. I like to use the car every weekend but its been off the road most of the summer.

Can anyone please recommend a electrical specialist or a reasonably priced TVR specialist in Surrey?

The car is a 2000 Tuscan 1 Red Rose with 62,000 miles.

Thanks

Have a look at the boot release yourself, it's a simple system really.
It'll either be a loose wire, faulty switch or a duff/sticky solanoid.
Have a go, the folks round here will guide you and it won't set you back 400 notes!

Got my hands full but have a look back over some of my early posts as I had similar issues with the control boxes for the windows and heater and got them refurbished for far less than you have paid.....and they are still working 4 years on. Sorry just can't remember the firms name but it's here somewhere.

All easily checked at home.

Cigar lighter is likely fuse... Something dropped in socket and shorted it out. They can also need the "wings" bent in if it has power but not warming the element.

Mirror controls... Yep send ecu and control pad to Paul smith. Stupidly, TVR put them on the door pocket where they get water on them when it rains. Doh!

Heater blower motor... Could be eCU or damp in the motor itself... If you do a search on here, I,ve written on how to access motor in void btwn inner and outer wings N/S. Usually they respond to a good squirt of an electrical restorative.

Likewise, pass. door lock might respond to a bit of TLC. Spray with WD40 and a bite of lube can work wonders!

Boot not opening? Try opening and shutting te passenger door...that seems to un-fox the boot solenoid
