I have Spectraflair Silver and love it. It looks amazing when clean!

Before I bought this I searched for Reflex charcoal as I love that.

Was there ever a Spectraflair green???

Candy apple Red.

Stunning.

A fellow Tuscan owner had one resprayed and posted on here a while ago.

Most Spectraflair colours are good.

OK so I went up to see Dave at Surface and Design today.
I've chosen Jaguar Ice Blue but with a percentage of Spectraflair.
Dave is sending me samples with 1, 2 and 3 % spectraflair.

Still other colours (red) in my mind but I'm now satisfied I've will be happy with my choice.
Also new carpets, roof canvas and screen and boot liner carpet ( spilt a litre of oil in the boot silly ) by D & C although I missed them today.

Photo's to follow some time in February.
Thanks all for your input.

Great choice! A quick google shows quite a few different pics of Jag ice blue though?

I'm still confused how the spectraflair thing works in the sense that Dave also advised me that it was done on a % into the mix, however when I had mine done, it was a separate layer over the the top of the basecoat. The more layers, the stronger the effect but also the more silver the basecoat effectively looked.

I ended up with Spectraflair lite as I couldn't justify the cost of the proper stuff, but i already know your car will look superb!!

Hi MrChips,
Yes, still not 100% myself and it sounds like he explained it the same way.
I'll be having another chat with him in the next couple of weeks and come back.

Can you tell me what "percentage" yours has ?
I ran through your profile photo's and your Tuscan looks great.

I had samples sprayed with 1-4 coats of the spectraflair lite. I went with 3 coats in the end.
The lite is very subtle to be honest no matter how many coats were put on so I didn't want to compromise the base-colour.

From seeing some full spectraflair topaz cars, the effect of the proper stuff much stronger. Maybe it is that the proper stuff is applied differently and mixed into the basecoat before applying, in which case the % thing makes sense.

Definitely see if they can spray the samples on a curved model car shape thing rather than flat samples as it'll be easier to see the effect.

I'm slightly regretting not getting the proper stuff now!

Well I thought I had made my mind up.
I spotted this wonderful car a few weeks ago and just remembered 'that colour' that has been stuck in my head.
Now, all I have to do is head back to California, drive to Napa and hang around until this car reappears.
Then ask the owner what colour it is.

I guess this can be described as a long shot.

I spent a long long long long time choosing from different shades of blue when I had mine done, and i'll be honest, that one looks slightly too wishy washy. It looks similar to Crystal Topaz but without the amount of pearl, which in my view crystal topaz needs to help it not look washed out.

Obviously maybe it's the photos though, as below are 3 cars in one colour I almost picked which was Porsche Ice Blue. This might look very close to what you're after, and adding some spectra flair would give it a more silver hue anyway. The pics below demonstrate how different colours can look online though!

That blue looks along the lines of Grigio Alloy Pearl (TVR073 I think) or the Ferrari colour Azzuro California. Its very tough to pin down as there are so many potential shades out there....

Hi Tony, hope you are well?? How has the car been? Have you been on your annual jaunt over to Spain this year?! Hope you can decide on a colour you like soon!

My old dog is somehow still running nicely (*touches wood) but using it as a daily drive for the last 2 years means high running costs/repairs so restoration efforts are particularly few & far between! Anyway getting to the point, about 8 weeks ago or more my service bonnet pivot mounts gave out on the way home from work and the wind ripped it clean off, damaging the main bonnet also in the process. An insurance claim followed & have now paid out, so I too have been reviewing colour options of late!

Going by your preferences up to now this is clearly not going to be your thing, but I thought I'd share my final choice with you to see what you think?!

Unfortunately it wasn't a large payout, so I'm having to recruit a local retired classic car restorer to do the job between his garage at home and his friends' booth/oven! He has 50 years of restoring & spraying behind him, so should turn out pretty good I hope...

Be sure to keep us updated with yours won't you?

Ryan

Hi MrChips,
I'm looking forward to the samples of the Jag Ice Blue arriving.
I forgot to take photos of the example I looked at !!!
Porsche Ice Blue looks close to my target but, yes, it's interesting how the same colours can look so different.

Hi Ryan,
Good to hear from you.
That colour looks fantastic but it really won't work with my interior.
How did you get on with your tappity engine ? That two years ago so I hope your in good shape now.

Last year we had a great run down and stayed at some great hotels.
My Tuscan was treated like a rock star and directed to exclusive parking spaces so making the hotel look cool smile
This year my daughter and friend came with us so I had to take my Merc.
I'm already planning next year with the Tuscan.
Cheers,
Tony

She's still sounding tappy, annoys me a bit but I've been living with it long enough now I'm used to it. As always there have been MANY issues, mostly minor apart from the RAC incident which really did me a favour in the end! It tests my patience at times but over 20,000 miles later & I still love it more than ever.

Have you ever taken your car through Italy?? The reaction to my car over there was amazing, particularly outside of Monza park as the GP was kicking out - struggled to get through the crowd of people trying to take pictures in the middle of the road! Never known anything like it & mine is rough as nuts!

Please let me know if you're going to any events next year, I still owe you a few frothy ones for the manual thumbup

Oh, and another one to throw in the mix. Reading the page says it's Azzurro California, but I had a sample sprayed and it looked very different so I didn't take the risk. Almost wish I had now!

Some more of this colour here: http://www.autogespot.ca/index.php/en/ferrari-458-...
Hi MrChips,
I've finally gone for this Azzurro with 5% Soectraflair. smile
Must admit to getting carried away or should I say my Wife.
She talked me into a fully interior wink

Before and after pics will follow in February.
Better get back to work to pay for it.
Thanks all.
Tony

Great choice!! Look forward to the pics!

Would be really interesting to see in the flesh once it's done. I'm sure the spectra flair will be much stronger than my one and that'll really set it off nicely!

Dare I ask....What colour interior? hehe

Cant wait to be able to post the pics but don't expect her to be ready until mid February or even early March.

The interior will be dark blue carpet and a mix of dark blue and Portland grey leather.
Cant remember the actual names of the blues rolleyes

Ready for summer, cant wait smile

Hi again MrChips,
Changed my mind again smile
I decided that the Azzurro California won't go with the new interior and roof and so I'm now going for Spectraflair Aloy with 5%.
I think this is final smile

I really like the Azzurro California but every photo I've seen tells me there is a hint of green which just won't work. frown
