In my experience a standard Tuscan S is about as fast as a 996 turbo (in the dry) but the 997 turbo is faster, especially above 120 mph. Tuscan S is much more fun to drive than both of them. And the 996 is so ulgy !

Everybody can drive fast with this dentist car
but no dentist can drive fast with a Tvr.

After a 944, 944s, 928, 996 and 997, (all sold) i know what i am talking about.
I like the thrill driving my Tuscan, have had a few acceler. tests with a 996 Turbo against my 4.0s from
60 to 160 mls (over 10 mls with traffic, so we always had to go down with Speed),i was in back of him and had to lift the loud pedal, otherwise i had touched his rear.
And the Porsche driver really did his very best to escape.
This was done on belgium Autobahn after approx 10 mls he took another lane,
i overtook, thumbs up from from him, i think he was very impressed.
So Tvr is always a bit Understatement, only a few on the continent know about the Performance of TVRs.

But nowadays a 997 Turbo or a new Corvette this cars will be faster
