Ok so I have done this job once before but it was a very long time ago and ideally need a sense check to limit the amount of time I spend freezing in the garage...

Here's how to remove the mk1 dash: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

But if I remember correctly, on the mk2, you can't access the bolts via the shelf, and actually have to get right up under the dash itself, so iti'll be a time for lying upsidedown in the footwell.
Has anyone remove the main dash panel on a mk2 recently and provide any advice, or even better any pics?

Made it a bit further today in that the steering column cover and dash pod are now out. I can slmost see the bolt on the drivers side but it looks almost impossible to get to.

So a little bump for this one if anyone has any ideas or knows how to get access to the bolt?

On the basis that this might help others in future.....here's how this ended.

Firstly... a massive thank you to Dave the Trimmer who gave me a call to talk me through it and send over this photo. I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this as it's not my car in the photo. I knew this was roughly where the bolts were, but it helped when doing it blindly as you can't see what you're doing.

After removing as much of the wiring I could out of the way, the best way I found was to lie in the footwell, 90degrees to the car so your feet are in the passenger seat, and your head just outside the door aperture, then right arm can reach into the right area. Smallest 10mm socket you can find, and voila.. all done!
Passenger side is simpler as you can access it from above the dash shelf, just the socket, a mirror and patience.

Well done Dave , not taken my Tuscan apart yet, did your bonnet hinges but never needed to take it to bits. Fitted a new sound board for rear speakers. What are you doing this time?

Good work/research Dave, need to take mine off at some point so this will help. Have you managed to put it back yet? and are they bolts that go up into the dash top, or, like the Chimaera (IRRC?) studs with a nut/washer combination from underneath?

Cheers

Yep it's all back in and snug. They are bolts that go upwards through the plate shown in the pic, rather than there being captive studs in the actual dash like the Chim. A bit of a pain to line up but not too bad once you work out (or get told!) how to gain enough access.
