Can anybody shed any light on why the Speedo Needle would stop working? Was working fine until I had to stop at some traffic lights then decided to stay at zero.

Just the needle or the digital read out as well? If it's just the needle the stepper motor might be out of alignment. You'll need to get the top of the pod off and pull the stack of PCBs out one by one to access it.

Had something similar on my Mk.1.
Digital readout was working but needle/analogue was about 10 mph different and/or needle would not 'operate'.

I got some electrical restorative/lubricant and with the pod cowls removed, squirted into the (white) nylon worm drive....It's been fine since.

I did notice at this time that the needle wouldn't 'zero' with ignition 'ON'...hence the delta between analogue and digital readouts.

OK, Cheers Guys, I need to replace the digital screen so will have to take the pod apart for that. Was hoping that it was something a little easier for the time being.

It could also be the sensor, which is located on the rear axle, inside side. The 'gap' needs to be right and they quite often need to be cleaned or adjusted. I've had this problem a couple of times - often after wet weather. A new sensor is quite cheap (£30 ish IIRC) and is easy to fit.

Sorry for the non-technical answer, I'm not mechanically minded. Power changed mine last time and it took the guy about 20 minutes.

Mine does this when the dash pod gets hot. It has been reported that when they get hit the motor and gear thingy slips. When it cools down its fine again. I need to get mileage reset after losing it when the screen was changed (make a note of the mileage just in case) so I'll get mine sorted then

Ditto, needle works fine for 15 - 20 minutes, gets warm and hey presto back to zero it goes!
