Ok, so I'm new to this Speed Six malarky, only had the car a couple of weeks but was a bit underwhelmed with the noise, previous TVR was a decatted Chim which sounded lovely.
Anyway, having read just about every exhaust related post on this forum and listenening to many Youtube sound clips i decided something had to be done.

The Tuscan already had Powertec straight through cans on but was otherwise standard, back boxes were a bit dog eared and had been welded, so i took it to
Tony Banks in Leeds this morning and had the back boxes cut out and replaced with straight through pipes.......Jeeeeesus what a difference!

I really didn't expect a great deal of change as the back boxes are just empty boxes, but it now sounds like a proper TVR.
Deep rumble at idle, cracks and pops on every up change and impersonations of a gattling gun on the over run shoot......result tongue out

God only knows how so many on here live with a decat as well eek fair play to you all, but think it would be just too much for me.

Mine was running straight through cans, decatted and the back boxes you mentioned cut out. It was the loudest car I have ever heard - in actual fact, for a while it was embarrassing. That said, after a couple of weeks it just became hilarious and I never changed it back.

Previous tuscan was decatted and I found it to loud on a run its constant drone really bugged me. Don't get me wrong the over run was awesome. Current car is standard as gas as I am aware and suits me perfectly. Could do with a little more on the over run but that is outweighed by the relaxed sound and feel on a long run.

Maybe I'm just boring certainly not daft. Each to there own and all that.

I'm running sleeved cans and back boxes removed, and although I would like it a little louder still it makes a great noise! I tried decats along with this set up and it sounded horrific, really raspy and quite embarrassing. Changed it back 2 days later and sold them on again. As you said though, each to their own...

Decats with small silencers works well. It gains the tone and pops but knocks off the raspy annoying sound you get with decats and straight through cans.

Decatting does have a few benefits as well.

I have absolutely no idea what exhaust system I have .. but its pretty flaming loud smile

I have the Carbon Can Company rear cans and certainly silencers behind these.

Its about as loud as my wedge... and that is pretty loud! hehe

I had it MOTed last week so took a photo whilst on the ramps...you'll see I only have one straight through box cool
